St Jean to Roncesvalles in a day, or stop at Orisson?

It was the best hard boiled egg I ever ate. It was the best cheese I ever had. You can actually see this fellow on YouTube in a French documentary... I discovered it this week. OMG. A great experience. Check it out - at minute 12:21. You'll see the man. Yes, he told me the cheese was from...

St Jean to Roncesvalles in a day, or stop at Orisson?

Stop at Orisson, enjoy the great hospitality and comaraderie, and meet many of the people you met at Orisson all along the way. Also - doing SJPP to Roncesvalles in one day is a killer - in my opinion. I am glad I didn't rush it, and took my time stopping at Orisson. Yes, I met many people...

GEO tracker, anyone ever use one?

    Oh. Sorry. :-)

GEO tracker, anyone ever use one?

I used ViewRange App on my phone. Worked GREAT. Uses GPS only while walking, no need for Wifi and minimal battery usage. See my website for the results of how it looks. Each night I would upload my track - synch it using wifi at the albergue or a bar. When you post pictures on Flickr these...

    Travel Insurance

Sprinter- In USA you can get travel insurance which covers medical from AAA. I paid about $100.- for full coverage of any medical emergency, and they give you a nice certificate from Allianz (the carrier). I hope this helps. Buen Camino- Mike

Only 10 days what to walk?

I thought about this too, and finally decided to start in SJPP and walk for two weeks at my own pace. Who knows? Maybe I'll come back next year and do more. Here in USA people hike the Appalachian trail in sections, so the concept is okay with me. Do I need to have a compostella this trip...

Camino Frances May 2017 will it be a race for a bed?

Thanks for the question and the answer! I'm walking in May 2017 as well (May 23rd from SJPP) and that was my hope. I made a reservation in Orrison, but that's it. I like the idea of taking my time and staying in the in-between places as well. I will ask about a "forecast" at SJPP pilgrim...

My 2.2 Kilo/4.3 Pound CF Packing List

Eve, Jenny and all - This is overkill, I know, but I bought the Arrid Cream in Walgreen's tonight and weighed it next to my Old Spice "travel size deodorant," which has adhesive tape wrapped around it. Granted you get one full oz. of cream (28 gm) which would easily last more than a month. The...

Anyone stayed at Villa Harriet in SJPDP?

I reserved at Villa Harriet too. It's a bed & breakfast. Would be nice to have the address, but I see it on the map. On foot anyway, I should be able to find it. Suzanne - they take a few days to answer. They seem very nice.

Anyone stayed at Villa Harriet in SJPDP?

I've just booked in Orisson for May232017, and similarly at Villa Harriet in SJPP 22MAY2017 on the recommendation by Orissons. Yes, pricey, but my first stop and I don't don't want to worry about finding a place. The email to Orissons took about 4 days to get a reply, and Villa Harriet...

    Reservation at Orisson's

Wild Place - Will definitely stay at Orrison based on your recommendation. Are you saying it is a good idea to have money in your PayPal account? Sounds great if lots of places take it and it is secure. What do you think? Thanks!! Mike (Arriving SJPP last week in May 2017)
