You can always taxi to Morgade or Barbadelo—-closer to the actual 100km start, and let
them be behind you. Hoping they are not also creating a cloud of cig smoke for the rest to experience. Good on’em for doing it!! Glad I won’t be behind them😎🤐😂
Avila is one of the most beautiful towns I have ever seen. Easy train to Madrid after. I stayed in the old town part at a nice--newer hotel that included breakfast and it was super reasonable.
walking from Le Puy to SJPdP in the Fall, the King Claude Plum (?) trees were heavy with ripe fruit. I was told that if the branch hangs over the path, that fruit is fair game. The Camino path demarcations are very clear as it is well fenced on most of it, as I remember it. The plums were...
Take the first bus with her, get her settled. Take the bus back and walk and meet her at the hotel that evening. Win -Win. You get to walk, she can take the bus.
Not sure if it is worth a stop, I had wonderful PT in Sarria that helped me recover a bit before the last 100K. I love Casa Barbadelo in Morgade- out from Sarria on the way to Portomarin, and Pension Albergue a Pedro in Sarria. Had private rooms/w bathrooms both places.
Good on you for flicking his words off and not letting them stick. Thank you for posting--I quickly checked my upcoming reservation in Viana---that is not the one I have booked. Enjoy your walk---just imagine the weight of the stones that man is carrying to throw at others--as we say in...
I stayed at Orisson my first time, and did not sleep well at all. great experience with the communal dinner and meeting other pilgrims. I have since stayed 2 nights in SJPP, taxi down to hotel and in the morning taxi back to where I stopped. there is also a bus to the Virgin. I'm using the bus...
And --you can also book St Jean for the first two nights if Orission is booked. I found it easy to grab a taxi at Orission for the ride back to SJPDP and for the second morning, a taxi back to Orission to continue the walk. Yes, you miss the camaraderie of the pilgrim dinner at Orission, and you...
I will walk my 3rd (plus an extra last 100k CF w hubby) in 3 years this fall. Camino is my drug of choice. I will walk CF again, last year LP to SJPdP. Any repeat could have not been imagined during my first Camino—I quit and recommitted a couple of times almost every day. I walk alone but never...
I walked CF fall 2017, was hooked, walked the Le Puy fall 2018, and have booked CF for this fall (2019). Since the CF is like a river and you can never step in the same river twice (and the LP was NOT fun!), I am excited about the CF again!!
I’m 59 and I walked the Frances SJPdP fall 2017 alone , Le Puy to SJPdP fall 2018 super alone, last 100k to Santiago again oct 2018 (with hubby). You can do anything! Trust me—-if I can do it you can. Pace yourself..have a day to recover before starting if you come from the US, pack some turkey...
