    Zubiri or Larrasoana?

I can’t give an opinion on the hostel (I went posh and stayed in a pension 😁) in Larassona but the cafe/bar/store there is run by a wonderful and welcoming couple and has a great pilgrim feel as the afternoon and evening goes on with everyone mixing and meeting for that reason alone I would go...

    Auberge Borda

I stayed in 2021 and it is still one of my most memorable experiences, the beds and facilities where magnificent and as much as I was not really a big fan of sharing my motivation for walking I found it very spiritual and made some great friendships that will remain with me…I cannot recommend it...

LIVE from the Camino St Jean to Muxia in 20 days - or less !!

@tigermike a friend of mine once ran the entire mainland coast of the UK, a marathon a day, it took him almost a year…why did he do it…because he wanted to try 🤷🏼‍♂️ adventure sometimes lies in a mad cap idea which clearly until the point of stopping brought you great pleasure. I still applaud...

541km in 12 days and he calls that failed 🤦🏼‍♂️ as someone who has “paused” a camino before (shin splints) I know the next few days will be mentally difficult but you have invigorated and enthused many on here with your exploit, I personally loved checking to see how you were doing so as us...

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

When preparing to do the CF I had it in my mind that you “must” do SJPdP to SdC in one go, then covid came along and logistics changed so I went back and did my second attempt from where I stopped previously but injury ended that one early and I will go back and carry on from where I stopped...

One Day or Two? Walking the Camino from St Jean to Roncesvalles at 72

I split my day last year and must say it was the best decision I made I was able to take my time and soak up the views a leisurely lunch at Orrison and a chance to enjoy the company of fellow pilgrims and then the short walk on to Auberge Borda which I cannot recommend enough. Laurent the host...

The Camino does NOT start in StJpdP - discuss

My view below comes with a caveat, it is my view/opinion and in no way detracts from anyone else’s truth/opinion as they hold it so don’t be offended 👍 When I first started planning I was sure of three “facts” the Camino starts in SJPdP, the Frances IS the real Camino and you haven’t completed...

The Camino does NOT start in StJpdP - discuss

I started in SJPdP because it was the easiest point to get to by train from Glasgow to start the Frances 🤷🏼‍♂️ But I totally agree your Camino starts wherever you want 👍 buen camino

    Stopped at Pamplona

Thanks for your replies yes I looked at the possibility of the starting to walk shorter stages or less popular stopping points (staying an extra night in Pamplona wasn’t an option at £60 a night) it seemed to me in checking the web that pilgrims were travelling in waves and I seemed to be caught...
