what it means is that you have foreknowledge. instead of feeling alone when trying to catch transport forward/back or have to book a hotel room because everything is full, you might be able to team up with one or more other pilgrims to keep the cost down.

I was in the town and nearby towns for 2 weeks. I've been walking caminos since 2 March (8weeks). the locals have said the numbers have been very high since mid March. they say the current volume is what they normally experience at the peak of the season.
I was in sjpdp and the nearby towns for 2 weeks from mid April.
I basically don't care if people walk the Frances or not. it doesn't affect me. but I'm putting it out there so people can reconsider their path if they don't want major anxiety. at the moment you absolutely have to book ahead...
I did the Frances last year and came back to do some more hiking around St Jean Pied de Port this year. spending more time in the town and talking to locals I would strongly suggest people reconsider walking the Frances route this year (or in future).

Just wondering what the accomodation is like on O'Cebreiro currently- is it getting full really fast or can you usually still get a bed if you arrive at 1pm? It's about 100 beds and I read it fills fast.

I'm not a fan of booking places ahead but as suggested I've booked the first few nights ahead. The general suggestion was book to pamplona.... should I book pamplona aswell or are there sufficient (budget friendly dorm style) options available? There seems to be but thought it best to ask...

I had been worried the lower route would feel less authentic because the track looked close to a road on the map.
