Thank you for this. Well, the best news is that my tendonitis was completely gone and I didn't have any issues with it the entire time. I was, however, very careful when going down parts of the Camino where there were lots of rocks and stones coupled with a steep descent. I relied on my trekking...
I returned about a month ago from my first-ever Camino. Wow, what an incredible experience! I am so grateful to the many people on this forum who helped with advice, tips, encouragement, and practical information before my journey. What follows is a list of memories, in no particular order:
1...
Thanks, I also booked ahead, I corresponded with someone there and he said some days are already full up, so I didn't want to take chances. Even with 200 beds on offer, the place can fill up.
I actually just tried to make a reservation there and after the credit card transaction failed 3 times in a row for unknown reasons, I phoned and was told by the very nice gentleman that I shouldn't worry about a reservation given that they have 200 beds. :) First Camino lesson learned: don't...
Welcome to the forum from another Northern VA-er. :)I'm leaving for Spain two weeks from today on my very first Camino. This forum is an amazing resource and others, more experienced than I, have given you great advice and tips. Do follow them! I'm a little bit anxious, but not as much afraid...
This really seems to be a shame, the new establishment appears to be trading off Istvan and Barbara's long-established business name and reputation. But for their family's medical issue, they'd still be there running it. I wonder if the new owners would consider either changing the name or...
I marked the relevant spot in my Brierley guide! :-) Maybe just to practice my Spanish, I'll strike up a conversation with the farmer and tell him I'm on his side. :-)
I thought this was pretty funny, actually, and I'm sure it was intended sarcastically. But then again, I love humor, sarcastic and non-. I can't help but hearken back to the state where I grew up, where not a few farm owners will literally shoot trespassers on sight. The trespassing pilgrims...
Thank you for this. I only have 28 days to cover the entire Camino Frances from StPdP, and am also looking for some parts to skip. Your suggestions are great, thank you.
Thank you for this post. I got annoyed when the American Pilgrims site told me I had to wait until about 6 weeks before my departure date. I'm always way too busy to keep track of stuff like that so I ordered one from the Society of St James in the UK and received it in about a week. Done!
I'm glad to read this, especially the first paragraph. This isn't idle speculation, and those of us who've purchased non-refundable plane/bus/rail tickets and booked accommodation are, I think, justified in being a bit nervous. The following is not a political opinion, please note. While...
That's exactly how I see it too. I usually try to give people the benefit of the doubt, which is why I took Len's comments at face value. in fact, it is exactly this kind of firsthand knowledge by people who've done the Camino that I find very informative. Based on his comments, I assumed...
I did something similar. I decided to fly from Santiago to Madrid the night before I fly home. Iberia has a really cheap flight and I couldn't pass it up.
