Catholic Mass in Fromista - 6 pm

Thank you everyone for all this great information!I have a lot to learn -- even though this is our second Camino.

Catholic Mass in Fromista - 6 pm

We've been having trouble finding out when Catholic Mass is held in the little towns on the Camino Frances. There is an evening Mass in Fromista at their amazing church that starts at 6 pm. The literature says the church has been deconsecrated -- but that's not the case. Sadly, our hotel...

Leaving on my first Camino in the morning & I'm terrified. Please help!

I totally agree! Don't overdo it in the beginning -- both the Valcarlos and Pyrenees routes are beautiful but tough. There is nothing wrong with having your pack transported -- it might mean the difference between being able to do the Camino and not. We're on the Frances Route now...

    Valcarlos or Orisson?

I agree! Pamplona is a lovely place to start - and avoiding those (very tough - either route) mountains does not affect the quality if your Camino. It was agony to watch pilgrims with knee problems struggle after doing the Pyrenees. You’ll also get stunning views in O’Cebriero...later, after...

    SJPDP Credencial Question -

The lovely stamps are part of the joy and adventure of the Camino. When we started from SJPP we were “stamp happy”... ended up with two passports ... but we still cherish the reminders. When we walked the Via Francigena in Italy, most of our stamps were from churches. We’d often end up in the...

    Loud bangs?

Best Camino discussion ever! So many options...from pig hunting to gold mining. Really, this pilgrimage is MAGICAL...

    Pondering

April - oh yes! We’re starting in Burgos near April 16th, too. Maybe we’ll see you - how wonderful! My husband and I walked the complete Frances in 2015 as we began retirement...we’re doing Burgos to Sarria next year. Maybe we’ll all have a glaas of wine together... Ning

    Why do it Again?

My husband and I walked the Frances in 2015 to turn the page on our retirement. This was a Camino of exploration... It was also a pilgrimage of reflection, prayer and penance. I joined the Catholic Church in 2016. In 2016, the “Jubilee of Mercy”, we walked the Via Francigena from Lucca to...

    Where are the arrows?

Santiago is tough! And there's that weird stretch coming into the city that you share with traffic. A number of our "Camino Family" took their only falls of the trip as they caught their shoes on the cobblestones while trying to figure out where they they were going!

    300 km instead of 100?

We just finished walking the Camino Frances - and while a little leery upon reaching Sarria, we ended up meeting the most devout and spiritual pilgrims who only had time to do the final segment. They inspired us all over! Ning

    Nervous about the Pyrenees/Napolean Route?

There are a lot of good comments in this thread. We're 1/2 through the Camino now. We made it through the Valcarlos route, but have met many pilgrims whose entire Camino experience was marred by the blisters and foot problems caused by the Napoleon route. Now that we're in the midst of it...

    Tour operators

We're 1/2 way through the Camino Frances and Camino Ways out of Dublin has done a wonderful job. Lovely hotels, great transport of our luggage -- very professional. You're going to love the Camino! We do.... Ning

    Starting....again

We're on the Camino now -- and we're amazed at how inexpensive charming little pensions and hotels are. I understand there are folks who believe one must stay in Albergues to have a true experience, but it's been wonderful for us...and we've met a lot of other pilgrims, as well. In addition...

LIVE from the Camino Will there be others

Though my husband and I are walking the Camino together, we've met lots of Pilgrims doing it alone - both male and female. There's such a wonderful spirit on the Camino - you become instant family. I'm very sad that Arizona is missing ... But we've seen nothing but warmth and friendship. You'll...

    The Valcarlos Route

Valcarlos is lovely -- and remember, you are still in the Pyrenees! It is not easy...lovely, but a lot of fairly steep up and down hills. We've heard a lot about the bad weather on the Napoleon Route as well. You're going to do great! If I can do it, you can, too! N

    Free Beer

Wonderful! My husband John and I start on the 17th as well. I'll have a Camino Forum patch on my jacket... We're excited! Hope to meet you all... Ning

    Right size shoes

Thank you! What a wonderful and insightful post. We're nervous, first time Camino walkers -- none of the heavy socks feel right....and I hate wool. I'm deeply grateful....Ning
