For me it was almost every day for the first two weeks. A lady at the Rosenvales albergue told me to not decide to stop walking until the next morning. I also told myself I could stop walking the Camino at the end of two weeks if I wanted. I have walked 10 different Camino’s since that time.
I am 69 also and leave for my Camino in 16 days. I have been walking every day I can and usually walk 3-5 miles. Once I did 6 miles. My first two days are like your as is the first week. The body is made for walking and I am going slow. Buen Camino to you.

I am sure not everybody in the room was rude. I hope you learned by the end of your Camino not to prejudge people. You don't know what a person's life is like until you walk in their hiking boots.
