Due to having walked from Logrono to Najera on past Caminos, last time it was pouring and I took a taxi from Ventosa to Najera and walked to Azofra. Another option.
I always love to stay in O,Cebreiro for the ambience. I have stayed a couple of times in Meson Anton which was good but last time in Venta Celta in a little attic room up a twisty ,wooden staircase . Wonderful food and blazing fire.
I have stayed there twice as I prefer that peaceful walk to Hermanillos. Met Timio at the sweet, little tienda
but couldn't have a conversation with my Camino Spanish. Myself and a sick young peregrina booked a lift to closer to Leon and the man who drove us looked just like Timio with short...
I stayed at the Via Trajana private albergue on the right as you enter. Wonderful place with great communal meal. I remember the hospitalero from the municipal came and joined us.
I have had some great evenings at the central restaurant up on top of the Camino path in Sarria.
Prefer to stay up there. Wouldn't want to miss it by walking to Barbadelo. Usually stop there for the toilet next morning, does look nice though.
Very little if any company on the Madrid though. I was so lucky to meet up with a lovely couple from Argentina who became my Camino family. Neither of us could speak the other's language but we had such fun.
I was overjoyed to see, in the distance, this green, metal bridge when trudging my lonely 3 day walk North on the VDLP. Happy to see all the pilgrims again.
In 2013 we took a train from Barcelona to Zaragoza, went upstairs to the bus station and took the bus to Jaca .From there a bus to Somport arriving at 3 pm. After a coffee we walked back down to Canfranc Estacion and slept there. next day walked to Jaca and onwards. Loved the Aragones.
I have been to the Pilgrim mass there a couple of times and we were taken out to the front for a blessing and given a small memento. Great start to the San Salvador/Primitivo.
I bought a bottle of Pazo Barrantes Albarinho today. We like white when the weather is so hot,
the guy tried to get me to buy Australian albarinho, I soon set him right. :)
