Work and time constraints have kept me from doing longer Caminos. Thus, I have done the Ingles twice and loved it. I would never consider the Sarria to Santiago route because of the horror stories.
I hope some day to be able to do a longer Camino. But. to this day, I fear that I woudl grab a...
This post actually peaked my curiosity so I did a little web research. Interesting article here: http://www.nutritionmyths.com/is-guinness-beer-a-good-source-of-iron/
BTW: no one ever needs an excuse to have a cold one or two while walking the Camino :)
I did the Camino Ingles on two consecutive years. I was a casual runner/jogger and felt that was adequate training. I was wrong. First year I had terrible swelling and pain in one of my knees. I was able to finish the walk but at one point was concerned that I would not be able to do so. I...
Unfortunately it is a sad commentary on the times (and persons) that vandalism of all types is seen along all the Camino routes. Clearly, not everyone approaches this pilgrimage task in the correct state of mind.

In essence this entire discussion boils down to placing an undo amount of importance to getting a Compostela rather than to the journey itself. Walk the Camino for its own sake, not for a piece of paper/souvenir.
Of course snorers don't snore on purpose. It's not their fault. Having said that, many people are intolerant of even soft snoring and that's not their fault either. Snorers are generally oblivious to their snoring and sleep straight on through while light sleepers stay awake and feel...
I have an array of hi end digital SLRs as a serious amateur photographer. However, it is unrealistic to lug those along on the Camino. I took a Canon Elph which takes excellent pictures and has quite a few adjustments and effects available. It was no bigger than an iphone. Very easy to carry...
Absolutely agree with IP. I needed a private room every night to reflect and recuperate. I don't believe I'd be able to do the Camino [trying to] sleeping in dorm conditions.
