If you were going to miss any day, that last one into Leon would be it, I admit. I had been struggling with food poisoning picked up in Sahagun (never have a re-heated bocadillo that has some unseen prawn in it...), but I really regretted not taking a cab from Mansilla.
As for being 'less...
Well, I for one (actually two because I'll be with my partner) am walking this winter EXCLUSIVELY across the meseta.
WHY?
Well, my partner has not walked the meseta before and we only have a constricted time to walk.
If we're going to walk the Frances at the 'quiet' time we might as well...
I hope this is true. I enjoy the mingling with pilgrims and sharing stories. I hope to record some podcasts during our camino (see above for dates and places we'll be on the way) and would LOVE to chat with other pilgrims as part of it, to give a sense of what the camino is like during winter...
Departing Burgos on January 2 - walking the Meseta to Astorga (or maybe just Leon depending on the cold).
Not expecting to see many other pilgrims/masochists out there at the same time...
