My French is very basic. When we walked the Le Puy route i found Tourist infomation centres very helful in booking gites. I usually booked for about 3 days in advance and it worked well. My own attempts on the telephone were rather problematical!! :D
We are planning to do another pilrimage this Sept and are undecided as to whether to do the Arles or the Vezelay route. Have read various web sites about them both but would really love to hear from someone who has actually done either of them and what their experiences were.
