Walking the CF for the Second Time?

Thanks for sharing. I'm wondering what it'll be like for myself as I had a similar experience to your first Camino. For me I think I mostly just didn't want to be done. If you'd of told me I had to walk back to St. Jean I would have! A friend of mine (from whom I learned about the Camino in the...

Walking the CF for the Second Time?

Why was that, if I may ask?

Walking the CF for the Second Time?

Thank you so much to everyone's responses! I feel a bit better about my decision to walk the Frances again, even with other parts of me wanting to walk ALL THE CAMINOS NOW. :) Ah, thank you! I must've missed this post when I looked for info on this topic - I look forward to reading more...

Walking the CF for the Second Time?

After my first Camino last year (the CF) I am eager to walk again. I'm relatively young so I have time in my life to hopefully walk a variety of Caminos yet I find myself wondering how other pilgrims felt about their second time on the Frances? The reason I will be walking the Frances a second...

    Carry On Question?

I second the Sea to Summit collapsable bags, only I have the backpack version. Used mine identically to t2andreo. I also never check my backpack. It's a 38L and it fit fine in the overhead. I can't imagine having a bag any larger than that.

Everyone walks their own Camino. This was one of the bigger lessons in compassion that I learned - and am STILL learning. You don't owe anyone any answers - to echo the teenager of a previous commenter, it's a "them problem". Your journey is about you and you only. I like to imagine that the...

Some amusing graffiti on the slog into Leon

I love this and second it. My own "black dog" managed to leave me be most of my Camino but I learned a lot about taking care of myself and knowing when to take a break - something I'm terrible about. My idea of "slow" was still too fast and I developed really terrible peroneal tendonitis in my...

    A timely warning

Glad you are safe! Walking the stretch into and out of Zubiri with flooding April 2018 was bad enough that we, too, were forced to the roads; I can't imagine how tricky the snow is making things for you! Hope your feet heal up and thanks for sharing your journey with us.

    Baggage Etiquette

This is a really good question and I'd agree that it would be rude not to stay somewhere you've sent your bag to. I only sent my bag ahead twice (medical reasons) and in each case I used Jacotrans, didn't have a reservation, but intended and DID stay at the places I forwarded my bag. I walked...

    First time - planning jitters

I'm an over-thinker, too, and I suffer from anxiety -- everything has to be perfect! One of the reasons I chose to walk the Camino (and there are many, bigger reasons) was that from what I'd been told and what I'd read, the entire walk is kind of ABOUT not having to worry; there's always an...

Anyone care to share their experience walking CF in April?

Hi! I walked April 6-May 14th. It was wonderful and I'd recommend it for sure. Temperatures from 3°C/37°F to nearly 29°C/85°F. I experienced every kind of weather you can think of, though I only briefly had snowflakes fall on me (some friends hit O'Cebriero a few days ahead of me and had snow...

Favorite albergue in the Camino Frances

The cat is great! The owner has it trained to hop between the stump stools for treats:

Favorite albergue in the Camino Frances

Casa del Pescador in Ambasmestas, before going up O'Cebriero! It's a private albergue owned and run by a friendly Russian couple who are happy to give you a chat. The gentleman is really into fly fishing and built a trout pond on the property with a boardwalk all the way around. You can pay to...

Yoga on the Camino de Santiago?

I did yoga along the way! (I practice Yin yoga). I only stayed at one albergue in particular that had a space for yoga: Albergue El Serbal y la Luna, in Pieros. It's the ONLY albergue there, which is more like a neighborhood than a town. But it's a VERY nice, cozy place with large, wooden...

    Random helpful advice

TAKE YOUR TIME. I thought I was going slow and it wasn't slow enough. Seriously; don't stress about how fast or slow you are going; the best part of the Camino is the journey, not the destination. Yes, getting your compostela is great but my best memories are of the places I visited, the people...

    Albergues with swimming pools?

I know of two: Casa del Peregrino, in El Acebo: pool wasn't open on the 3rd of May, lol. Looked great though! Casa Barbadelo, in Barbadelo: 9th of May, was open though only two of us used it (an Alaskan and a Hawaiian - go figure!) Also of note, if you ask the staff, they do have some swimwear...

Does CF feel like a crowded theme park now?

I've only walked it once, last year (2018) in April/May. I was afraid of this same thing but I only experienced that sense of commercialization on the final 100K, at which point I chalked it up to part of the "spiritual challenge" portion of the Camino. ;) I am honestly surprised when people...

Why multiple times on the CF?

I’ve only walked one Camino - the Frances- and I already want to walk it again. Exactly. On my first Camino, as I WALKED I knew I wanted to do it again, not just after I’d come home. There was just too much to see and not enough time to see it all. So many towns I’d of liked to stay in and...
