Hi there. I'm also walking at the moment in Ventosa. It's there.. so are rubbish bins, electricity cables, all sorts of unsightly paraphernalia of careless modern life. Don't add to it . Just don't focus on it. Don't let it steal the beauty of your Camino.
I leave for Paris from NZ in four days and the last time I felt like this was over forty years ago as a 19 year old waking in the predawn early morning looking forward to meeting my baby girl post-caesarian!! Unreal..have to remind myself to breathe.
I don't know what the newer Altus rainwear is like...such a misconception when it is referred to as a "poncho" since as Kanga says it is a coat. What I know is that it is my non-negotiable item for my second Camino late September - November this year. (Just four weeks to go....So excited!!)...
Sometimes I wonder if the movie "The Way" leads us to expect a small group of intimates to form rather than fluid joining and leaving as we share commonalities along a shared path.
Just to clarity about local SIM cards, please. I am bringing my Samsung 6 from New Zealand. I fly in and out from Paris and will be there for about a week in total needing to confirm accommodation etc. Presumably, I need a different SIM for France and Spain? Any recommendations where to get...
I'm a New Zealander, flying inyo and out of Paris and walking from SPdP September 24, booked for Orisson en route. Planning to take my time and hopefully continuing on to Finis Terre Beginning to count down the weeks!

Thank you. Your response is really encouraging. I'm still debating whether to replace my sleeping bag for a 320 weight merino outer layer that gives warmth when I'm not walking and at night. Would be interested in knowing the clothes you too.
I'm leaving SJPDP and staying over at Orisson 23 September and not anticipating problems. Actually, hoping for some slightly cooler weather. You will be ahead of me
Although its months away, I decided to book since this was one day I really didnt want to be hunting for a bed. Now I'm taking great delight in reminding myself I have a date in Roncesvalles on 24th September for dinner at 7pm! A boost on a hard day at work.
I'm feeling somewhat ashamed to admit that as a mother of six and grandmother of 14 that I have had concerns about mountains, dogs, blisters and lack of fitness however that all pales into insignificance compared to the previously un-thought- of terror of being in the same room in an albergue...
Hi Wazza
I am also spending a couple of days in Paris in September and planned to take the train to Bayonne and then onto SJPDP. Like you my hope was to enjoy the countryside. Now I'm considering using a bus after someone on the forum mentioned that the speed of the train means you dont see...
