When do most pilgrims feel like quitting the Camino de Santiago?

On my first Camino (SJPP to Santiago), I thought about quitting in Burgos. Once I decided to continue, I never felt that way again, even though I got very sick toward the end. On my second camino, (SJPP to Finisterre), I never felt like quitting.

How Important Was It To You To Do "Full" CF ?

It was very important to me. In 2019, I started in SJPP and as I neared Santiago, I got a bronchial infection. I kept walking, but finally had to taxi the last two stages into Santiago (turned out I had pneumonia). I returned in 2021, again started in SJPP and walked on to Finisterre. I was...

Private accommodations in SJPP for Camino walk with immuno-compromised daughter

Gite Makila. 3 doors from the Pilgrim Office and right across the street from Beilari. I had the most wonderful stay there in Sept 2021. It's a bed and breakfast.

    September Frances

I also have a flight booked out of Newark (departs 7:30pm) Sept 1 and arrives in Madrid the next morning. I'm going on to Pamplona and will relax and take a jet lag day. A day in SJPP is always a good time, too. It's a refundable ticket. We shall see!

    St. Jean to Burgos

One of my favorite segments. I've recommended this segment multiple times.

    Digital Brierley Guide?

I tore out my pages but didn't buy a 2nd copy for the shelf. I figured the next time I went, I'd buy the latest version. And that is the case! I do have other guides in the shelf that I didn't take with me, but alas, no Brierly from 2019. Just little groups of pages tossed in the trash along the...

Senior Newbies planning first Camino- advice?

In SJPP I stayed at a B&B: Gure Lana. They were a wonderful couple, beautiful room with it's on bathroom (huge) and super breakfast. http://www.bedandbreakfast-gurelana.com/en/

Are you thinking to walk the Camino (the way of the Saint James) again?

I walked SJPP to Santiago in Sept/Oct 2019. This September 2020, I will be back on the Frances and will walk 1/2 - Sahagun to Santiago. (In May, 2020, I'll be on CP from Porto to Santiago). My husband thinks I would enjoy doing SJPP to Santiago again in 2021. We shall see.

    Camino repeat

I finished in October 2019. I'll do the Portuguese in May 2020 and then 1/2 of the Frances (from Sahagun) in Sept 2020. Pondering another SJPP to Santiago Frances for 2021. Yep. We are crazy. And your point is? ;)

Senior Newbies planning first Camino- advice?

Here's where I stayed within the villages you mentioned. There were a couple that were outstanding that I sort of noted, but none of them was a dud at all. Gure Lana – B&B – SJPP (great place!) Apartamentos de Montana Mendiola 0 Casa Ferran – Valcarlos Casa de los Beneficiados – Roncesvalles...

Senior Newbies planning first Camino- advice?

I turned 72 on my camino last Sept/Oct 2019. I didn't stay in Albergues. Let me do a lookup where I stayed. I'll get back to you!

Is anyone doing the Camino without any specific purpose

I had no purpose. I could not tell you why I was going. I just knew I HAD to go. I figured I'd learn what I was doing out there as I walked. I walked SJPP to Santiago in the fall of 2019. I'll walk the Portuguese in May, 2020 and will be back on the Frances in Sept 2020. Nope. I don't know why...

    SJPDP to Orisson?

If it's the store I have in mind, it is rather small, but has items often used by pilgrims: poles, water bottles, ponchos, and such.

    SJPDP to Orisson?

Yes. I shared the taxi - it is a van. When I made my reservation, the company put together people to fill the van. The price of the ride is XX and then is divided by how many people are in the van. A full van, in Sept 2019, was €19 each person.

    SJPDP to Orisson?

As others have mentioned, I took Express Bourricot and it took prox an hour. €19

Any wild life safety concerns on the French Way??

I recall a couple of women walking about 20 ft behind me that clearly thought I was a mean not-animal-friendly person because I kept shooing the dog back. Finally, they caught up to him and showered him with affection - then he continued to walk with them. Far from his home.

Any wild life safety concerns on the French Way??

And speaking of farm dogs - don't let them follow you. They will get far from home. They are usually very friendly. The only one or two I encountered who were not friendly were tied to their dog houses. Scary barks, but safely off the path.

If you want to take 4 rest days on the CF, where would you stop?

I needed a rest day, but I wanted it to be in Astorga, so I took the train to Astorga. Took my rest day, then bussed back to pick up the skipped stages. Then I got to spend the night in Astorga again! LOL

Where is the steep and lengthen rocky (pebbles) descent?

Oboy. Do I ever remember that!
