Thankyou. I'm actually flying today now. Decided I needed an extra week to enjoy the walk so starting a week early. :p Buen Camino to you and have a safe trip.
When I don't walk with my poles the same thing happens to me. I just hold my hands up and open and shut my fingers for a bit. Stretch them out and sing "open shut them, open shut them give a little clap......." (I know kids do this to you send you bit loopy)
I've always painted a butterfly on each of my boot toes and a flower at the back. As I have huge feet for a girl my boots will more than likely only fit men and I don't think they would like them looking girly. ;)
Gracie don't worry so much about it being only 10%of your body weight. That is a rough guide line. As long as the bag is comfortable for you to carry. Be smart only take what you need not want. It will come together and if it's too heavy when you start walking you can post stuff home. X
It is easier than training at home it think because you are not worrying about the day to day life and having to fit work in etc. Just walk. So much nicer I think. :)
One thing I do is try for at least one day off on a trip and that is the day you get a hotel room or b&b so I leave my stuff there to go explore plus it's nice to have at least once a big bed and bath etc. Makes you feel so good.
Wow 18kg! I only carry that kind of weight when I'm walking out bush and that's because I carry my tent, water, all the food I need etc as there are no shops or towns. Self reliant. What did you have in your pack?
For me I find it always unsettling when I return home and try to get back into the swing of reality. I do a lot of long distance hiking and sometimes it's out bush (Australia) where you might not see anyone for a while so to come back to the fast pace is hard. Also you tend to de clutter your...
I had walked the del Norte during that time and yes places close down over the weekend. It's not to bad thought just be sure you stock up on food and water so you are not left short.
Where are you Urban Trekker? When I train here in perth during the summer before along trek I walk early morn on the beach knee high in the water. Hard walking but keeps you cool.
I fly out of Australia on the 27th September and plan to start the walk on 29th but I'm starting from Lisbon and walking the Portuguese way. Sounds like everyone is going on the Frances route. Anyone else doing the Portugal way?
That's just beautiful. I know that feeling I will always remember the very first time I felt like that and let me tell you you will have many more of these beautiful moments as you travel. Stay safe and keep that smile from ear to ear. I'm smiling from reading your post. X Buen camino.
