Leaving on my first Camino in the morning & I'm terrified. Please help!

Lots of good if at times conflicting advice Elisha, I sprained my ankle badly 3 weeks ago. I actually heard the rip of ligaments!! Gave it 6 days AND I bought new mid height boots rather than walking shoes. Have found them to be so supportive. Now walking 6/7 miles a day. I leave for St. Jean...

    Finally.......doing the whole journey!

I (we) hope to do the Napoleon route if possible. Thoroughly enjoyed it last year with blue skies and gentle warmth. I realise though that this is the exception rather than the rule! Though as I badly sprained my ankle two weeks ago a lower route at the beginning might be the most sensible- but...

Leaving on my first Camino in the morning & I'm terrified. Please help!

Hi Elisha, You will find so many people willing to help you throughout the Camino. The most common advice given is also the best - take it REAL SLOW at start. I am starting in St. Jean on 26TH April and sprained my ankle badly two weeks ago - its still swollen but i am hopeful I will be able to...

4 weeks to walk the Camino...

I would agree with many of the posts- don't skip but rather start a little further along ( e.g. Logrono) Part of the experience is meeting and travelling with the other peregrinos. If you are "racing" along you will have little time to interact with them. Paul

    Calendar Entries

Hi all, I have noticed over the past few days a few people putting on the Calendar ALL the days that they will be on the Camino! The calendar is getting very congested. Could I suggest that we all just put in the day that we start the Camoino? Paul

St Jean to Roncesvalles in a day, or stop at Orisson?

St. Jean - Roncevalles Its very do-able in one day. I am 60, reasonably walking fit and done it last year in ideal conditions. It was the downhill section that gave me my only blister of my 11 days! I intend doing the whole Camino Frances this year leaving 27th Sept and will go to Roncevalles on...

    Preparations for CF, April 2018

Hi Peter. I have walked from SJdPdP to Burgos last year and intend doing all of the Camino Frances this April/ May. My only comment to you would be to not wear out those walking shoes too much before you go. Certainly have them well broken in but they should retain some stiffness in the sole to...
