How to Avoid Road Walking on the Camino Portugues
Having just completed the central route in October I would take the coastal out of Porto and cross over to the central after a couple of days. I found the largest portion of road walking (and the loudest) was taking the traditional central route out of Porto. The first 2 days were not enjoyable...- Gwill21

Central vs Coastal
Just finished the Central from Porto. I can’t recommend the first 2 days of the Central due to all the road walking. After that it was good, especially from Ponte de Lima northward. Perhaps the coast from Porto for a couple of days is the better option but we have never done that.- Gwill21

Stages from Porto
Skip the first two stages on the Central route out of Porto (too much road, too many speeding cars and noise). Start at Barcelos or Barcelinhos.- Gwill21

Spur of the moment!
We are south of Tui and accommodations are somewhat scarce and have been limited at times unless you can “upgrade” to a casa rural or hotel option. Lots of folks walking right now. Also - unless you like walking next to speeding cars - skip the first two days on the the Central out of Porto...- Gwill21
