I used a neoprene brace, open at the kneecap, and adjustable with velcro straps. I' m not quite sure how it works but it relieved the pain until I lost the weight that was causing the problem. I never tried using an ace bandage but at the time I'd have done anything to make the hurt stop.- BamaVol

Fortunately we will only walk the last 200k, missing the Pyrenees. I googled the nearest lighthouse in Port St Joe and it has 131 steps, so that's maybe 9-10 flights. Whew! That's still a lot.
