I was planning to walk later in the year, but have decided to start just before Palm Sunday in Paris, then on to Auxerre and Vezelay. Still wondering if I should trek down to Le Puy via Cluny, or take the Vezelay route.
Danielle at Auberge du Pelerin runs a lovely, tight ship, and her food is utterly divine. I plan to stop there next year.
She has wonderful stories of the many places she's been. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
That would be an interesting thread, to be honest. I'm large and very tall for a female-type person, so I'm wondering if attempting a 36 liter pack makes sense in the autumn.
I'll be in France in September, then hopefully heading into Spain in mid-October, depending on how caught up I get in the Perigord. :)
Still, I miss Pamplona, and plan to spend a couple of "zero days" revisiting the casco antiguo. I don't think I've ever been so utterly charmed by a city.
I have a copy from the last year it was printed, thank goodness! I've also been looking at the regional websites, and doing some catching up on my rusty French. :-)
I'm coming from Seattle, honeyguide, and they are absolutely correct. There's more humidity in some places (since we have our Pacific coastal breezes) but Navarra in March was just like home between the rain and the mist. :-)
Hello, all! I am making Attempt Number Two from Vézelay in September. I ended up injuring my right knee going down the Alto de Perdon last April, and now need to do all of my hiking with knee braces. I still bless the doctor in Pamplona who was so gentle in letting me know I needed to go home...
