    Apart from increasing your fitness to a level where you feel confident to deal with long days of walking, I suggest you learn some Spanish. You could be pretty fluent in 5 years and it will greatly enhance your experience if you can understand and communicate with the local people aong the way...

    I have walked most of it twice solo, and the. Arles route with in problems. It certainly helps to speak some French sine you will have gathered from other related threads on the routes through France that most of the other pilgrims are French and the local people often don't speak much English...

    You may find there is a camino or pilgrim organisation with a branch near you that you could meet people for some first hand advice. It is often more helpful to be able to ask questions and chat with someone who has done it already
