Maybe a rude question! How old are you?

Hem. Y'all didn't ask, but given how much time I've been spending with doctors lately, you're stuck. ;) Alzheimer’s took my adoptive mother in her 90s, long before her body gave up. Cancer from smoking took my bio mom right before 78. Adoptive father was the longest lived in his family when a...

    Solo Female Traveller?

Should we ask how old you are, or how much life experience you have? Or whether you have already been a victim? Or how good your instincts are? Or should we tell you what you've read above? Neither are necessarily relevant. What *is* relevant is what J Wilhaus has written above, which...

Making a slide show of my Camino

EvleenMann, I apologize for "shouting* at you. Nothing you posted deserved that response. You already know the answer to your question. If you don't have implied or can't get explicit permission to make their faces/names public, you don't.

Making a slide show of my Camino

Ironically, I see it a little differently...and I'm from the US. Let me explain. I expect someone taking a picture with my face in it, particularly in a lodging or restaurant ( not quite a " public place") to ask me first. If I chose to stay in the picture, I will almost always ask you...

Hi! Newbie, here. Looking for seasoned advice on 100k routes & vacay ideas!

If this is likely to be one and done, then the Frances from Sarria is what a majority of pilgrims would choose. As for afterwards...Santiago is good for a couple of days exploration. Or Muxia. Or Lugo ( tho that might only be good for a couple of days) Or even Madrid. Or, fly back with Tap...

    First Camino, lots of questions

Please get a better fitted backpack with a hip belt. Your back will hate you after 2 days of that rig. It's riding too low, the straps are too narrow for your build, and the CPAP will bounce against your...glutes...with most steps. By itself, that backpack might make a decent daypack if you...

    First Camino, lots of questions

HBS60, welcome and Buen Camino! Two notes. I'm sure you know that some word choices and all accents are significantly different in Spain. May want to have a listen before you go. Also, if any of your minor ailments require prescription medications, don't assume that you can get same day...

    Cheap airline flights ?

Before you go cheap (I use Kayak, but YMMV), think through a few things: 1. Do you want to check a bag, or pay for a carry on? The cheaper the airline, the more likely you will have to pay big bucks for both/either. It can often negate most of the money you "saved" 2. How do you feel about...

2024 May 13th, more or less

Ah, you have a credencial. So, for more info... ...the Pilgrim's Office will only give you your Compostela/distance certificate, not a second for your wife. But you can add In Vicarie Pro to yours, as I mentioned. The church of San Francisco, just down the street from the Pilgrim's Office...

2024 May 13th, more or less

Welcome back. If you should want to, you can have your Compostela inscribed "In Vicarie Pro" with your wife's name at the bottom. Or not, as you choose. Buen Camino.

Yay! I am planning my Camino for 2025!

Hugs. This forum is about learning from our experiences, IMHO.

Yay! I am planning my Camino for 2025!

:::chuckle::: Good to know. And thanks! You two should, I suggest, talk out expectations on walking and on meals/accommodations before you train together and/or leave. My husband and I do Not walk at the same pace, so we regularly switched up who led, who followed, whether or not we took...

Yay! I am planning my Camino for 2025!

Other than abuela is grandmother in Spanish...I'm more curious about OCHOA. TeMah, I know you know this, but let your doctor know that you're walking Camino. I don't know the nature of your neurological event, but you may need to consider a medic alert bracelet in Spanish/ French in case you...

    Framed Compostela

My husband and I had our Compostelas framed somewhat like the first picture ( no distance certificates), with a pocket on the back of our frames for our credencials. I'd include a pic, but I'm traveling now.

    Fly fishing

My Spanish wasn't quite up to the context, but on the Primitivo I passed a couple of streams that appeared to be signed as protected salmon waters....I would have to assume that fishing was prohibited there during certain seasons.

    Hello!

BTW...Salas has a very interesting layout. Here's some bad pictures.

    Hello!

I'm on it now, but I definitely didn't have anywhere near enough hiking with pack uphill experience before starting. (I found walking from Sarria to Santiago with a daypack to be no problem) Assuming I make it (TBD), and with extensive help from Buen Camino, Booking, WhatsApp, and...

I forgot to introduce myself: I'm Miri, Shalom from Israel!

    Shalom be with you.

    Catholic Camino Charities

Or, to summarize. There is no "Catholic Charities" organization that focuses on the Caminos. Since I regularly donate to several different Catholic charities, including Catholic Charities, I am confident in this statement. If you would like to benefit an individual Monastery, church, convent...
