Am I wrong in assuming that you have never done a direct Australia-Europe flight before? I have done it nearly 20 times and have had jet lag each time. Recovery time varies but please budget at least 2 nights in Paris, preferably 3. You will likely experience a buzzing head and incredible...
I agree, and think 3 nights would be better. Have you done this trip to Europe before? If not then the jet lag is going to be around for two days at least, and probably more. It would be no fun attempting a long walk if you have jet lag.
Fly to Madrid. (I am puzzled why Barcelona is suggested since it adds unnecessary extra time and distance.) I expect carriers like Qatar Airways or Emirates have a one-connection trip of about 22 hours. Then take the train to Sevilla - it is very quick. You can then afterward easily return...
If you are using the Renfe website then you can expect peculiar search results. Apparently the app works better, but I have not tried it. Have a look at Rome2Rio and that may yield something more useful.
I regularly fly with them to Europe these days. Melbourne-Doha-Berlin, which is not offered by any other airline.. My opinion is that they are pretty good, although I have noticed the effects of cost-cutting in the past couple of years (eg. reduced economy-class service on-board, seats that...
Hi,
I am considering a stroll on the Sanabres next year, and would like to start in Granja de Moruela. Does anyone have any information on getting from Madrid to Granja de Moruela? The train to Zamora is easy, but thereafter Rome2Rio suggests ALSA run a bus service once a day, but offer no...
I took the TGV from Montparnasse to Bayonne in 2013. You should definitely book, to both ensure a seat and to reduce the cost. I booked on the day of travel (a Saturday) and had to travel 1st class due to unavailability of cheaper seats. Quite expensive.
The other point I would make is that...
Thank you all for the suggestions. Berlin is my initial destination due to family reasons, and I think we have confirmed that there is no convenient direct route between there and Oloron. I think the easiest route is a flight to Bordeaux and a train to Oloron. The latter takes just over 2...
I have been investigating the Camino Aragones with rising anticipation but have encountered some logistical problems. The problem is that subsequent to my arrival in Berlin in July I would have to make my way to Oloron (my preferred starting point). The nearest airport is Toulouse, which would...
Not really, I should have read the fine print. I also agree the hotel solution is worth a try, but in my case I was staying in a tiny 1-star pension. Not a whole lot of storage space was apparent.
The Madrid train station is an option, but a very expensive one. I left a smallish box there for 10 days back in 2013 and it cost me something like 30-40 Euros. It transpires that I misunderstood the daily rate to be a total cost for an unlimited time...
It somewhat depends on from whence you fly. Coming from Australia to Europe I generally need about two days to get my head together. From across the Atlantic it is likely not so severe. Either way I recommend taking it easy at the point of touchdown for a day or so (Madrid in this case). It...
