    Madrid to Ponferrada

We did that segment last year, 2023. Took train from Madrid Chamartin station to Leon. Changed trains to Ponferrada. Super easy and quite comfortable. There is a metro that took us directly from the Madrid airport to Chamartin. Frankly the hardest part to get right was the shuttle bus at the...

Dublin is also a great town in which to take an extra day and just enjoy the city. Downtown Dublin in the spring is a delight.

    Advice on itinerary please

First of all, congratulations on doing your first Camino. I am doing a partial again this spring with my 10 year old grandson, so I share your enthusiasm. The travel arrangements to/from can feel daunting. I am from Minneapolis, so I have the same challenges. Simple fact is that no options...

    Barcelona

Hotel Leonardo Las Ramblas. Very close to downtown street La Rambla. Close to Metro. Outstanding breakfast buffet. Super clean with modest pricing. Stayed there in November for several nights. Many nearby stores, eateries. A few blocks from the Boqueria market.

    Stuck in Paris

Stuck for 4 days in Paris! You are lucky. Buy your soonest available train tickets to SJPP and enjoy Paris. Go see Versailles. See the Orsay and Louvre. Go to Sacre Cour at sundown and enjoy the view. I would consider it my first Camino blessing to be providentially stuck in Paris.

    Iceland stopover anyone?

Did this. Iceland Air experience was excellent and the pricing was great. They were also very flexible on our return. We ended up changing our return by several days and the change fee was only $80 or something close. They let you extend your layover for days either direction at no charge...
