I'll be departing from T-1. Kelly -- I'd love to stay in Madrid...only problem is I'm not 100% sure I'll have enough money left once my camino is over!
From what I'm hearing I should have enough time...unless the cab driver hears my horrible accent and does circles around Madrid figuring I...
Nope, I'm going to JFK. But the thing is, I suspect I might be all right because I'm not checking baggage. It's just me and my carry-on. However, if the train is delayed (as often the case in the U.S., arguably) it might be tight. But it's crucial to make this flight because if I take the...
Does anyone think I'll have a problem arriving by train in Madrid Chamartin at 7:45 in time for an 11:35 flight? Are the trains usually delayed in Spain or are they pretty reliable?
BTW thanks for listening and responding to my frequent posts everyone...I've only a few weeks to plan since...
In my opinion you guys should definitely go by rail. I got a 2 month pass for 3 days of travel in Spain -- it cost about $225 with shipping. Not cheap, but flying into those small towns can sometimes be a major headache AND more expensive.
Thanks everyone for the tips. I just got off the phone with my bank and they said basically the same thing, adding as Jerry pointed out that I should notify the security number shortly before I leave. I was also told that the charge would probably be between $2-3 plus a $1 charge from the bank...
Not to inundate this forum with newbie questions, but I'm still curious about the use of credit cards along the way. I've never traveled overseas before, so I'm not sure if I could use my current debit/credit card (VISA) there or how to exchange dollars for euros with the card. Or is there...
That might be a good option since the San Fermin festival will be happening in Pamplona day I plan to fly in (July 7th or 8th), and it will be a madhouse there. With the albergue closed I wouldn't be able to pick my credentials up until I got to Puenta la Reina.
Just out of curiosity when...
Thanks for the advice everyone, it is much appreciated. I think I will start in Pamplona rather than backtrack to St. Jean, then make it to Santiago in five weeks, which should give me plenty of time (if I have time to spare I'll go to Finisterre and take a bus back to Santiago).
The flight...
Thanks...luckily I haven't booked the flight yet, though from searching just about everywhere on the net JFK to Pamplona seems the cheapest. Oddly enough, there is such a flight and it is somehow cheaper than flying into Biarritz or even Barcelona and Madrid, no trains required. (Does anyone...
I was thinking of booking a round-trip flight from JFK to Pamplona, with the arrival and departure a month apart. After finishing the camino in Santiago, I would catch a cheap flight from the airport there back to Pamplona in time to make the return trip from Pamplona to JFK. This seems the...
