Clarification of new entry rules in Oct 24.

Precisely, my point being that officially the term is British Citizen as in anyone born in England, for travel purposes overseas, is a British Citizen. I thought the post was relating to international 3rd country travel and the EU?

I am sorry, there is no such thing as an English citizen.

Reducing carbon - arriving by ferry to Bilbao/Santander or train from Barcelona

A few years ago I travelled the Renfe FEVE route from Ferrol to Santander, FEVE station (via Oviedo). This not Santander Renfe Station. The FEVE line is a narrow gauge railway. It is a slower, leisurely journey along the lovely northern coast of Spain. Doing this journey in the opposite...

Train from Charles DeGaulle to St. John Pied de Port

I took May 18th as an example and with you arriving in CDG at 10.30. There are always the possibility of delays but leaving the station at CDG at 12.38, then by way of Massy TGV and Dax you would arrive in Bayonne at 18.27 for 53,40€ as of today. No rush for connections. A night spent in Bayonne...

Alternative Ways to Reach SJPP from Bilbao: Help Needed for April 2022

As others have been posting, it is too early for Sncf train timetables and the train service seems to be disrupted and is being replaced by a Sncf bus service at this moment. ALSA operate a direct coach service from Bilbao Intermodal - the bus station, to Baiona (Bayonne) for 9€ single. It...

    Porto to Sarria travel advice

I agree with Natefaith. I would add, however, that depending on your flight arrival, there are several buses each day from Porto Airport direct to SdC. Check ALSA App or ALSA website. Tickets can bought online (printed, and/or stored on 'phone App) Bus Stop at the Airport is the last to the...

Travelling from Manchester, England to SJPDP - advice?

Hi there Using RailEurope website and a date well in advance, reveals the following price for Manchester to Bordeaux. Perhaps, cheaper with RailCard? You have to be quick usually.

FEVERail card and the Tarjeta Dorada

Hi Jeff I returned to the Camino Portuguese in late September to complete what I had started earlier in the year but curtailed because of food poisoning. My intention was to complete the Camino and then spend a night in Ferrol before taking the FEVE across to Oviedo. My first night was spent...

Paris to Biarritz/Bayonne: Cost of train vs flight

Hi there I am not sure when you intend going but a quick search for the 23rd October revealed a fare of just over 50€ leaving Paris Montparnasse at 07.49, changing at Bayonne and arriving in SJPD at 12.53. There was only a 7 minute changeover in Bayonne but there would be another train later if...

Last minute Barcelona travel nightmare, any advice please.

If you wish, you can download the ALSA App, sign up and buy your tickets. That way you have your trips stored on your ‘phone and tickets can be stored in your Wallet. I have two tickets bought and stored on my iPhone Wallet for the end of September and beginning of October in Northern Spain.

Last minute Barcelona travel nightmare, any advice please.

Yes, you can buy them at a Ticket Kiosk. On the last occasion (at Vigo) the Kiosk was shut. The bus was arriving in 20 minutes. I tried to pay the driver but he was not able to accept payment. There were a couple of empty seats but no deal. Is there a Ticket Kiosk at Porto Airport? I do not know.

Last minute Barcelona travel nightmare, any advice please.

Just an added note that ALSA tickets must be bought online. The driver cannot issue tickets. I found this out in June at Vigo bus station.

Last minute Barcelona travel nightmare, any advice please.

ALSA operate a daily service from Porto Airport to Coruña. It leaves at 13.25 and arrives at 19.15. It stops off in Tui at 16.15. Or if you are stopping in Tui, you would take ALSA bus to Coruña at 16.15 the next day. My recollection is that the ALSA bus stops at some distance from the town...

Transport from Porto to Sarria and form Santiago to Porto.

Am I to understand that you are walking Sarria to SdC on the Camino Francés? It would be better logistically to walk from Tui to SdC on the Camino Portugués. Or must it be the former?

    Getting into Paris from CDG?

Hi! I have made the journey from CDG by RER B, changing at Gare du Nord, then the Metro to Montparnasse. I am unsure if that is the route that has been mentioned, but if it is I can say that it is a 10-15 minute walk from the Metro platform at Montparnasse to the train station at Montparnasse...

    Hendaye

Hi DharnaBum The 10 hour journey from San Sebastián to Santiago de Compostela is by train. The price I quoted was for next week and as I said it could be much reduced by booking in advance. I would use the Trainline website for doing this. It is in English and easier. Unfortunately, if you are...

    Hendaye

Hi DharmaBum You can catch an fairly early morning Euskotren from Hendaye Euskotren Station to San Sebasatian / Donostia. It is across the car park from the Gare Hendaye SNCF. It is about 2,50€ single and runs regularly - every 30 minutes or something like that. It is a short journey across the...
