We stayed at Hotel Parma when we walked the Norte. Nice modern place with breakfast. It also had A/C which was a treat while walking in the summer months.
We used maps.me and had no problems whatsoever. Works great offline. Search for GPX tracks on this fourm. Someone posted links for all Caminos and alternate routes. Open them in maps.me or google earth and your set.
We walked the Norte Aug-Sept last year and stayed in hotels the entire time. We used Booking for reservations and had no issues. We did have to book a couple days in advance in some of the more tourist towns.
We started in Irun and only saw 5-10 pilgrims a day all the way to Santiago and this...
I’m on the Norte now just outside Markina. I have literally only seen 6 pilgrims since we started in Irun. We do stay in pensions and leave around 9am but I’m surprised reading this and how crowded other people have observed. Buen Camino. Hope to see some of you.
I’m a self admitted spreadsheet Pilgrim who leaves in two days for the Norte. This is our third Camino and we prefer to stay in private rooms and also like to know our daily destination. I’m in the process of booking now and noticed how expensive this route can be. It rivals the Italian part...
We are walking the entire Norte starting next month and planing the stages now. We are spreadsheet pilgrims and also stay in private rooms. So far we were able to find hotels From San Sebastián to Bilbao about every 25kms or less every day. I’m using the gronze site And booking.com.
My wife and I plan to start walking on August 16 from Iru. This is our 3rd Camino and hope to meet some interesting pilgrims along the way.
Buen Camino
My wife and I are starting in Irún in mid August this year and I was wondering how well the path is marked. We have done the CF which is hard to get lost. We also did 1/2 of the Via Francegina and had to use GPS a couple of time to stay on course.
I would rather not turn on the phone this time...
