You are getting close to where I live now. Unfortunately I can't meet you on the road, as I am preparing my own Camino and I still have lots of things to do...
You could walk all along the cliffs from Ribadesella to Playa de Guadamía (and even a lot further with low tide). It is beautiful, but...
Wow, 59 pilgrims between Gijón and Villaviciosa is quite a lot, I would say. Considering that the vast majority you met had already walked past the Camino Primitivo junction.
I don't know when on the next stage you plan to head for the coast, but there is a far better alternative to the...
You might happen to count me as a pilgrim, while I am not. 😅 I will be walking the Sanabrés half May and am having most of my training walks on (parts of) the Norte. However I prefer to avoid the Norte's asphalt where I can.
To add my grain of salt: I stayed in albergue La Xana in La Caridad on...
I haven't checked if it was mentioned already, but there are also quite few alternatives to the Camino's asphalt between La Caridad and Tapia de Casariego. Look at these tracks on wikiloc...
Vegetarian, so very happy to have scored a beyond burger and a glass of vermú 😄
But wow, 50 years? You must have seen big changes! Was it already a touristy town back then?
Greetings from Llanes! It was a bit difficult to organise something around one of the few open albergues. Something with public transport and nice distances. And not walking with a credencial. So in the end I booked a pension in the center of Llanes. No regrets 😊
I would like to do a 2 days walk to prepare for my Christmans Camino, preferably somewhere in between Santander and Gijón. I was hoping I could stay in an albergue for the experience and the full gear test, but I can hardly find an albergue that is still open. The only one that I have found so...
I know of at least one donativo albergue owner who has been given a hard time by a private albergue in the same village.
But could it also be that they experience more interest from tourists/holiday makers not walking the Camino in staying in their albergues?
I walked the bit from Playa de Ñora to downtown Gijón today. It is beautiful and a much better entrance into the city, but it is all on asphalt or stony paths. Lots of people on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There are various options, so it can be a lot shorter than 16,8 kms.
Has anyone ever tried a coastal alternative from Villaviciosa to Gijón? I am looking at wikiloc now and it seems to be possible. I have never walked the official Norte stage (so I don't know how scenic it is), but a coastal alternative would make the walk into the city certainly a lot more...
I don't know Camigas, but this is what I posted in the Camino del Norte FB group:
Just a heads-up about an American pilgrim in his forties, named Todd. We met him on the Norte on November 9 in between Villahormes and Nueva. He behaved pushy and creepy to a (female) friend of mine. A simple...
