Which guide books would you recommend for El Norte? My friend told me that Brierley has a newly published guide for the Northern Routes.
Leaving very soon!
Wow...I would love to spend time at Guemes, and perhaps share music (flute) there.
I really appreciate all of these suggestions. I am leaving in 2.5 weeks, starting off in SJDPP to experiences the Pyrenees and then heading up to Irun from Pamplona around the 21st of May.
Feeling "researched...
Thank you for this link. I would appreciate knowing if there are any albergues or other pilgrim oriented places that stood out for folks along the way.
Gracias....

What are some of the other places you enjoyed in el Norte de España? I lived outside of Bilbao for a summer nearly 40 years ago, but haven't explored much of the area as an adult.
Gracias!

I am planning on walking el Norte and have read many posts about combining it with el Primitivo. Can someone explain what and where that is and how many extra days it would add to the camino?
Getting very excited!
Sue
I read somewhere that the cost is significantly higher on the Norte, with less cafes/markets to buy food and/or supplies.
Thoughts about this?
Also, does anyone know whether is looks like a dry May/June this year?
Gracias!
Sue
I may decide to stay on the Frances and stay in the inbetween places. The Norte is more expensive and I am on a budget.
It will be my Camino however it unfolds and I embrace that...
Buena suerte and camino,
Sue
I am happy to see this question! I am starting on the Camino Frances on May 18 and will likely head up to Irun or San Sebastian to walk el Norte (crossing the Pyrenees is on my bucket list!)...I could very well cross paths with both of you!
Have either of you walked el Frances?
It's getting...
What did you decide? I am still figuring it out as well...will start in SJdPP on May 18th and am seriously considering bussing it up to Irun from Pamplona.
Buena suerte con todo!
Sue
Glad to read these posts. I have decided to start on the Frances and switch to the Norte in Pamplona. I tried on more than a dozen trail runners to find a cushiony pair that would accommodate my bunion. It came down to the New Leadville 3 and the Altra Lone Peak 3.0. In the end, I chose Altra...
I am going solo in mid-May....switching my first plan to walk CF...but this is the most popular season and I'm going primarily for the social aspect. I love to hike and am very fit, so the physical aspect seems better...
I am thinking of starting in SFDPP until Pamplona and then taking the bus...
Hello, it's April, 2017, and I've been encouraged to avoid the Camino Frances...I am interested in the Camino Norte and would like to read your piece. I can't open it...is it still around? If you can resend it, that would be great.
Gracias,
Sue
