Dos Tios ,after the steps when you cross from Pasajes de San Juan staying on the Norte route fork left at the alternate divide . I stayed there last October great people true Camino spirit.
I found some of the coastal variations not to clear. Any long stages are up to you/ your ability it is not a race so plan your stops each day on how you feel some of my days 17 Km one day 31km . My footwear North Face cross trainers . Hope this helps enjoy the Norte I did.
Hi I finished the Norte in Santiago in December (went thru to Finisterre via Muxia)having started in Irun 25th October . The way is clearly marked with arrows and shells (Camino symbol) all the way .So the way is already mapped out for you. I am sure you will enjoy the Norte
Yes finished in December in Finisterre started in Irun October 25 as all before stated it’s your choice I just carry a liner and a inflatable pillow did me. And it did get cold outside -3 one morning Gernika. For me it’s the weight. But enjoy the Norte it’s was a great walk for me.

Although my Camino on the del Norte the way marks have been excellent bar once. I did use the train and local bus to bypass the tiedious road walking but from Ribadeo it has been quiet forest country lanes. Irun to entrance Bilbao great walking.
