In October 2012 I stayed at Casa Rural El Brunedo........there were 2 rooms available , plus a very nice bathroom. This place is on the main road, as I walked in to Montamarta......I think it is the N 630. At the time it was 20E for a single, plus 3E for laundry. There was also a small...
A thousand thanks Windswept, for sharing your journey with us. I followed your blogs, and today have just watched your video. In 2012 I walked from Granada to Finisterre, seeing very few Pilgrims------reading your story enabled me to reminisce and relive my time in Spain. I now wonder how I...
Hi Jenny,
I'm Heather's friend who walked the Mozarabe to Finisterre via the Sanabres last year. Yes, the Mozarabe was very difficult and very lonely-----an amazing life experience but certainly no walk in the park. I see you are from Sydney----I live in Perth, so if you send me a PM maybe I...
Last November, after staying in Cea, I walked to Estacian de Lalin and stayed at A Ponte Cafe Bar Restaurante----it was basic accommodation but the owner was very friendly and I had a lovely evening meal. When you arrive in Botos, you will see it up to the left. It is on the northern side of the...
Hi Plogaw,
I passed through Granje de Morereula last October. There were seven Peregrinos there that night. All of us said we froze that night. In the morning, we all admitted to putting on extra clothes during the night. Fortunately a few of us asked for 2 blankets , so that was a bit of...
The hotel I stayed in last October in Salamanca was Hotel Emperatriz 11------in Rua Mayor. I am sure this is the same one Heather stayed in.
Cheers,
Sandra
Hello Sean,
I hope to start walking from Granada on the 19th. I leave Australia tomorrow. Maybe I will see you after Cordoba, depending on how slowly I walk. It is great to know there is someone else on the trail.
Buen Camino.
Sandra
Hi All,
I leave Australia on Friday ( Sept 14 ), but have a few days in Granada to recover from jet lag. Along the trail to Santiago I hope to access the occasional internet , and if I can decipher the keyboard ( I am not technological), I will post on " Alive from the Camino " . If this is...
I will be on the VDLP from approximately Oct 8. You will be far ahead of me , I think. I will reach Merida at that time ( from Granada ) and then continue on to Santiago via The Sanabres.
Buen Camino.
Sandra.
Hi Todd,
I sent the last post before I read your Day 4. I am so sorry about your injury. I pray the rest in Casar de Caceres will enable healing for your knee. Take care, and accept whatever help you are offered. This is just a little setback on the journey.
Sandra.
Thank you for the blog Todd. I will be on your trail within the month. It is interesting to see what I will be up against. My childhood was spent in a hot and dry area of Australia, so I am hoping this will stand by me.
Your photos are beautiful. Thank you. Take care.
Sandra.
Thanks for sharing. Your photos are beautiful. I leave in 2 weeks to walk from Granada to Santiago, so was very interested in your blog. However, the photos showing the muddy trails etc prepared me, as I expect rain ( and wind and fog ) on the Sanabres !!
Sandra.
Hi Melanie,
I hope to arrive in Merida ( from Granada) about Oct 8, so I might meet you on the VDLP. Of course , this depends on how fast you walk-------I will be taking my time !!
I will have the Forum badge on my backpack.
Buen camino,
Sandra.
Thanks JohnnieWalker for the info re VDLP Stats. Hopefully numbers will be similar this November and I will have some company after Merida and onto The Sanabres.
Sandra.
I will be walking from Granada mid September so expect to be on the Sanabres mid November. I expect to not meet many pilgrims ( although I would love to meet some ), but I am wondering if there are any statistics as to how many Pilgrims arrived in Santiago in November 2011, especially those who...
Hi Heather,
Was so excited to see your post. Congrats on getting to the VDLP. You did it !! I will be waiting for more posts, and your wonderful adventures. Keep safe and enjoy the journey. You are giving me courage for mine in September. Buen Camino.
Sandra
Hi Paula,
Good luck with the journey you are starting this weekend. Having read " Sahara", maybe you could enlist a camel to carry your pack !! Your journey through that part of Africa was absolutely amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed`the book, and wondered where you went to after its conclusion ...
Hi Paula,
I've also read your book. What an amazing adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am planning on walking from Granada to Santiago in September. I intend to stay 3 to 4 nights in Granada to recover from jetlag, as I live in Australia. I will keep in touch in case you are in Granada at...
Hello to all who are walking the VDLP at this time. I will be eagerly reading your reports as I hope to walk from Seville or Granada to Santiago this time next year. I'm quite apprehensive about the hot weather so am keen to learn from you.
Take care and carry lots of water ! Thanks for your...
