The bifurcation is about 500 meters after the beginning of the path to Guillema thait starts right after you have crossed the dangerous exit of the highway. Zyou will recognise it ehen you get there
After the terrible few kilometers along a busy road and dangerous crossings, we got on the path to Guillena. After a few hundred meters we got to the bifurcation: the road to the right avoids the crossing of the Arroyo de las Molinas. Because of the heavy rainfalls we chose this option. This...
I walked today from Sevilla to Guillena. On leaving Sevilla, we took the path Aling the rivier. It was no problem at all, not a single pool of water on the trail, no mud at all. It was beautifull with many flowers.
I have walked the VdlP in 2015/16. I will go back in two weeks, won't walk to Santiago. But have chosen to repeat the stretch Sevilla Salamanca, because I liked that the most. Very nice cities like Sevilla, Merida, Caceres and Salamanca ( which I liked best)
It is only in Spanish, but if you have "chrome" on your device it translate easily. I love Gronze, I used it on all my caminos as my main source of information
As far as I know the albergue at the embalse is closed. It was so in 2015 and I don't think it ever opened since then. I will be walking there again in a few months again and reckon I will have to walk 33 km to Canaveral, if starting in Casar de Caceres . From Caceres it would be 44, and that's...
I walked the CF to Burgos, then the crowds got too much for me and I took a bus to Zamora and walked from there. You would not walk the meseta then and save some days and can walk easily from Zamora to Santiago If you like the meseta this will not be an option. But the walk out of Zamora...
I walked the Vdlp in 2015 and parts of it again in 2016 and last year. Sometimes it was hard to eat at 7, but regularly something was possible.
One restaurant, which serves a pilgrims menu and opens not to late ( I think at 7) and should not be missed is El Gusto de Comer in Rionegro del Puente...
You must be prepared for the heat. In 2015 I started at the end of march and temperatures reached allready 32 degrees Celsius. Sevilla is said to be the hottest city of Europe
I walked all three routes mentioned. For sure both the Norte and the Primitivo are harder.
I don't know much about private accomodations on the Sanabres, always stayed in Albergues. About the possibilities of shortening the stages it is best to look at Gronze. I found places to stay in...
I am planning to walk from Sevilla around Easter. I want to avoid the heat in Sevilla ( in 2015 I started 29 March and temperature reached 32 C) and the crowds that can be expected in Sevilla in the Holy week. I am not so much interested in the festivitities ( experienced them in other years)
So...
Last year I started the CF, in Burgos I decided to change over to Zamora to walk the Sanabres (again)The crowds on the CF were too much for me. It is like a paradox : the many people on the Frances don't facilitate the making of contacts with other pilgrims; certainly not relating to the quality...
You could go to the Convent of the Dominicans, it is nice. Bartolome de las Casas came from there before going to South America. In a famous book he wrote for the first time about the mistreatment of the indigenous population. (In the convent i did not see anything relating to him though some...
I walked all three, it is difficult for me to compare. Intuitively I would go for the combination of the Salvador and the Primitive. My judgement is perhaps influencedby the fact that two times I had to break off my Camino Sanabres in A Hudson's. I walked the whole route but only in stages. I...
I started the VdlP end of march 2015, it was allready 32 degrees (Celsius). Farther north the the temperatures dropped. The Norte I walked in April/May and the weather was ideal for walking ( more rain though) Landscapewise there is a big difference.Mountain and seaviews on the Norte (more...
