If you are flying to Madrid then just get a connecting flight to Santiago de Compostela and then the bus to Ferrol. You can get there by 5 PM and have a restful night and start the next day. I've done this twice.

I have walked it twice that time of year. Mornings can be chilly but it can get quite warm later in the day.
Depending on your orthopedic conditions be aware that there are some hills to climb.
Based on the description of your first Camino, the Ingles should be a walk in the park. Mind you, there are some tough hilly portions, but nothing like crossing the Pyrenees.
I have done the Ingles twice and loved it. There tend not to be a lot of people and it provides lots of time for contemplation and thought. I can't imagine some one not loving it.

Getting back to Santiago from Ferrol is very easy: from the main bus terminal a ride will cost you about 9 euros and takes an hour.
