I walked the Primitivo last April and Apps weren't the most useful....But do you what was? Asking the locals. I was in Bodenaya and not only did the hospitalero tell me a storm was coming so did every shop owner I talked to...and sure enough the snow came when they said it would.
I know what you mean. I use this site as well as belong to a Local American Pilgrims chapter that has local hikes and meetings for those who can relate
I walked the Primitivo in 11 days. and loved it. No rest days. Rugged and less traveled You could just walk from Oviedo to Melide where the CF joins the "Original Way"
I asked the same question a few months ago. I had planned to walk 15 days on the Frances route or I could do the Primitivo. I waffled several times and then a wise pilgrim on this site said to follow my heart. So I did, I canceled all my reservations, bus tickets and set off for the Primitivo...
Well, After several months of planning/packing/unpacking/repacking and changing my mind on which Camino to undertake I leave for Camino Primitivo this Friday and start walking March 28th. I'd like to thank all of the members who have given me their pearls of wisdom and sharing their experiences...
Sadly to say, I'm finding that most places don't take AMEX when booking online before my trip so had to get a VISA CC........thoughts? Also I was thinking of getting a Debit Card specifically for the Camino that doesn't have fees. Any suggestions? I have Chase now but do you know of any banks in...
I'm in the same predicament almost. I started at Astorga and walked to SDC in 2016. In 2 months 'I'm walking from Pamplona to Saghun. I don't care about the Compostella. But I would like to stay in the Municpal albergues along the way. Can I use my old Credential?
Decisions, Decisions! I know I will come back again but I would hate to have missed a great part of the Camino. It would be easier to start walking in Pamplona for sure and I would get to experience some of the Meseta.......
Thanks so much. I did walk from Astorga to SDC in 10 days....and in retrospect should have slowed down. Walking from 7am to 5pm most everyday, all I wanted to do was eat, take a shower, and sleep. This time I want to slow down and only walk until 1pm or so. I guess what I am questioning is if it...
Great Info.....What is your impression of the Valcarolos route as far as scenery and beauty. I can only walk 15 days. So Maybe I should start somewhere else......suggestions opinions?
Thanks for getting back to me. I am unfamiliar with the road conditions across the Pyrenees. I'm form Washington State where the passes are brutal in winter time. So it seems that the Valcaros Route will be most definitely open at the end of March and getting to SJ will be no problem. I was just...
I'm arriving in Madrid the morning of March 28th then head on up to Pamploma. I understand that the Napoleon Route will be closed until April 1 but the lower route should be open. My question is although I don't plan on making reservations once I start I would like to make one in St Jean the...
Hi again, I was wondering how things are during April in Spain when it concerns Good Friday, Easter etc. Are business etc are closed. I'm planning on the Primitivo end of March/beginning of April
