My Buen Camino app is crashing!!

Same problem ... until I uninstalled the app, rebooted the phone and re-installed it.

Silk liners can't take hot dryer? What do if bed bugs?

If you have some time, stuff it in a plastic bag and put it in a freezer for 3-4 days at -20°C ... does the job and would not destroy any fabric, shoes or whatever.

Did you get tired of wearing same colours for weeks?

Never ever came across that and it sounds disgusting and reckless towards fellow pilgrims who want to use the same dryer. Where I live some people have drying closets where you can do that as there you hang the clothes and the do not come in contact with anything... but in a tumble dryer? Eeek...

Did you get tired of wearing same colours for weeks?

I am actually doing the same thing, same trousers and same shirt which are my main set for long walks ... and I replace them every now and then with identical pieces :-) All green though, so not that easy to spot from a distance.

Did you get tired of wearing same colours for weeks?

I could not care less :-) On the Camino I usually wear clothing I also wear at home. Also at home I sometimes stay in the same colour scheme for a week or two. I am fine with that and do not really think about it. :)

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

Say that one more time and I might start to recite my last decades of experience in rubber tips vs hard tips! Consider this a serious threat!

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

I have the slight feeling that some people do not take this thread as seriously as they should!

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

Now it is not getting better Dave, not making it better at all Dave! 🤢

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

What is that? Black broccoli? ... ewgh.

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

By the way, I used a rubber tip on my Camino Primitivo this year ... and the rubber was wearing out so quickly, that after half of the way the metal tip came through. Felt so much better after 🤣

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

    IS THAT TRUE??? 😱

Say No! to rubber tips on your poles.

I am afraid I must oppose that view 🤓 On asphalt/tarmac, on granite and many other hard surfaces hard tips are the optimum. I am hiking for decades and the only times rubber really was the better choice was in cities with very slippery hard surfaces. Polished surfaces. Or Surfaces the hard tip...

A word of warning on trail runners or light weight shoes.

Yes, emojis are limited and have led to some confusion occasionally 🥸

A word of warning on trail runners or light weight shoes.

Of course that is subjective, but the comment I quoted referred to his feet being the limiting factor. Happened to me on my last Camino as I actually had an unexpected shoe problem ... so I can relate quite well :) ... but of course my 40 are another person's 15 ...

A word of warning on trail runners or light weight shoes.

But if your soul requires 40k and your body might be fine but your feet because of your shoes only deliver 30, then that is sad. Walking really long distance each day is a special kind of meditation and is very rewarding.

Portable bidet - would you use it?

Actually … training your gut to do things differently from what it is used to can actually be much harder than you think. Also, for some people changing daily rhythm and type of food also has some major impact on their digestive system.
  17. Arctic_Alex

Portable bidet - would you use it?

Certainly not. I have those little bags for dog poo with me. That way it is not gross at all to collect as your hands do not get in contact with anything. It is the least one can do to avoid leaving a disgusting mess behind you ...

The Case for Using Hiking Poles When Going Uphill

Actually, as a more serious reply than my first one: I first started using them when for the first time I was lugging around 36 kg of expedition and camera gear in the mountains. Hiking poles were the only chance of survival then. Been using them often since. Not on my Camino Frances, but on my...

The Case for Using Hiking Poles When Going Uphill

They are a good tool to hit fellow-pilgrims with when they cannot behave.

    Ultimate Dog Repellent

I would actually say bed bugs are a bigger problem, but while there are many friendly dogs on the Camino you may have bad luck. So probabilities are lower than some first-timers might think, but the issue is real. It is a combination of sometimes careless dog owners or even those owners who push...
