If you have some time, stuff it in a plastic bag and put it in a freezer for 3-4 days at -20°C ... does the job and would not destroy any fabric, shoes or whatever.
Never ever came across that and it sounds disgusting and reckless towards fellow pilgrims who want to use the same dryer.
Where I live some people have drying closets where you can do that as there you hang the clothes and the do not come in contact with anything... but in a tumble dryer? Eeek...
I am actually doing the same thing, same trousers and same shirt which are my main set for long walks ... and I replace them every now and then with identical pieces :-) All green though, so not that easy to spot from a distance.
I could not care less :-) On the Camino I usually wear clothing I also wear at home. Also at home I sometimes stay in the same colour scheme for a week or two. I am fine with that and do not really think about it. :)
By the way, I used a rubber tip on my Camino Primitivo this year ... and the rubber was wearing out so quickly, that after half of the way the metal tip came through. Felt so much better after 🤣
I am afraid I must oppose that view 🤓
On asphalt/tarmac, on granite and many other hard surfaces hard tips are the optimum. I am hiking for decades and the only times rubber really was the better choice was in cities with very slippery hard surfaces. Polished surfaces. Or Surfaces the hard tip...
Of course that is subjective, but the comment I quoted referred to his feet being the limiting factor. Happened to me on my last Camino as I actually had an unexpected shoe problem ... so I can relate quite well :) ... but of course my 40 are another person's 15 ...
But if your soul requires 40k and your body might be fine but your feet because of your shoes only deliver 30, then that is sad. Walking really long distance each day is a special kind of meditation and is very rewarding.
Actually … training your gut to do things differently from what it is used to can actually be much harder than you think. Also, for some people changing daily rhythm and type of food also has some major impact on their digestive system.
Certainly not.
I have those little bags for dog poo with me. That way it is not gross at all to collect as your hands do not get in contact with anything.
It is the least one can do to avoid leaving a disgusting mess behind you ...
Actually, as a more serious reply than my first one: I first started using them when for the first time I was lugging around 36 kg of expedition and camera gear in the mountains. Hiking poles were the only chance of survival then.
Been using them often since. Not on my Camino Frances, but on my...
I would actually say bed bugs are a bigger problem, but while there are many friendly dogs on the Camino you may have bad luck. So probabilities are lower than some first-timers might think, but the issue is real. It is a combination of sometimes careless dog owners or even those owners who push...
