Buy stix in Pamplona/St. Jean, where?

Good day everyone, When I was there in 2022, I bought my sticks and left them behind. There was talk of someone starting an organized donation service where you could purchase or obtain a set of donated sticks. I will be returning in May 2024 and was wondering if anything ever came of that...

Ingenious (to me) water bottle solution : )

The ones I saw did not have an opening large enough for ice cubes to go in. Maybe there are different sizes? Re the drink powder. I don't usually start out the day with it in my water. I live in a hot climate and many times, at some point I feel like I need something more in my water...

Ingenious (to me) water bottle solution : )

I have looked at the bladder systems that my friends use but choose bottles instead. I can add ice to them; put water & bottle in the freezer the night before; or add an Ener C packet if I want. A bladder system would limit me too much.

Ingenious (to me) water bottle solution : )

Where I live it's been between 37 - 39 Celsius for the last few weeks with no change in site. I can't wait to get to Spain where it will be much cooler.

Ingenious (to me) water bottle solution : )

What a great idea! My water bottle has one of those pull ups to drink through and I can cut the mechanism out. Then I have a ready made hole. Will also look at the O ring tip or something equal. SO today's goal - head out to the Sports store and buy one of those replacement drinking tubes...

    My shower "caddy"

Great job! Pockets are a great idea!

    My shower "caddy"

Thanks for this info. I am rethinking my shower strategy. LOL! Today's exercise will be taking a shower without using any of the shelves, stools and hooks in my bathroom. I've already made my own version of @trecile's caddy. Prepping for all these situations is turning into a good source of...

    My shower "caddy"

I had my shampoo bar in a plastic soap case, but this idea is SO much better. Question: Do you leave it in the mesh bag to shower with? Having an epiphany, maybe I can omit my shower scrubby...

    My shower "caddy"

I'm a newbie, going on my first Camino in less than 2 weeks. I had never given any thought about where to "put" my shower stuff until now. I just assumed there would be a hook on the wall and a seat to sit my bag. I'm definitely going to combine a couple of your idea's above make myself a...

    Altus Poncho Help

That's what I did. Decathlon has one identical to the Altus but I was able to try it on in the store first.

if you’re not tired of looking at packing lists anyone want to chime in on newbie list for april-june? (frances)

Gear all chosen, bag packed and ready to go! :) Where I live it's flat as a pancake, so I thought the slower start will help my body to understand the change in terrain and daily schedule. I have a secret thought that when I'm done, I might go back and do SJP to Roncesvalles since I'll be...

if you’re not tired of looking at packing lists anyone want to chime in on newbie list for april-june? (frances)

I have the Speed Lite pack. Here is a pic of the tag I took (I'm an information hoarder LOL!). I leave Pomplona for Roncesvalles on the 19th, to begin on the 20th. I wanted to spend Easter Weekend in Pomplona. I'm keeping my km's low for the first 4 days so there is a possibility you'll catch...

if you’re not tired of looking at packing lists anyone want to chime in on newbie list for april-june? (frances)

Hi There, I am leaving from Roncesvalles on April 20, after 3 days in Pomplona and have until June 8th to complete my walk, so maybe we will meet along the way :). Other than a thin skull type hat and gloves for cold mornings I don't have anything to add to your list. I wanted to ask about...

The Shoulder Harness System: the first essential component for a good backpack

Thank you, Dave for your posts. I really appreciate you taking the time. Having passed my Osprey Women's pack on to my granddaughter, I'm in the process of purchasing a new one for my first Camino. My shopping options are limited where I now live and there are no women specific packs, so I...

    Best all purpose soap

It's possible that it had to do with the UV protection. I, too, have used Zote for years. And agree not to use it for your body, just laundry. If you wanted to bring it, I would just cut a piece off.

    Best all purpose soap

Just a small note on the Zote. I live in Mexico where Zote is a very common product. I used it (hand washed) on a white UV protect shirt I have for hiking and it turned yellow. Putting it through the washer didn't fix it but thank goodness bleaching did. Just thought I would share that info...

    Best all purpose soap

I've been trying various ideas here at home before going and I've settled on Dr. Bronner's as well. It works for hair/body/face/laundry. Apparently, the almond is supposed to have the most moisture. I did find that I need conditioner in my hair after using it, so I will bring a small amount...
