When my wife and went to do CP in 2018, we split our packs. Her bag was the size that would go carry on if underloaded and well cinched, so we put the larger items and poles in my checked pack. I did carry on flight an ultra light nylon pack that I put my socks and underwear, and my small...
When I was in the army, they taught us if you take care of your feet, your feet will take care of you.
Much of the Camino is like a military exercise, eat, walk, sleep…bunk beds, packs…but if anyone can find it, one of the best care products for your feet for running or walking long distance is...
In hotels I suspect you won’t, myself…I love my light bag, and would rather have it and not need it , etc. etc.
My concern would be if you needed to change plans for any reason you have limited your options . However, we used to say in the military…”Travel light, freeze at night”.
So afraid I...
Someone should start a lending library system of poles so we all don’t need to worry about these issues.
I know for our CP my wife and I packed our bags so her bag was carry on, and held most of the ‘safe, airline friendly’ items, mine was checked with the ‘non-friendly ‘ items. And as my pack...
On my first Camino, I wore a Nike running hat, and used my buff to provide neck sun protection if needed (new age foreign legion!)
On my second, I wore my faithful army bush cap, nice wide brim and easy to cool off by soaking and squelching down on the hot melon. My Tilley hat was AWOL for both...
I myself subscribe to a Camino conspiracy theory, where for some reason the two times my tips were peeled off between boards crossing a walkway...a store ‘conveniently’ sold tips only a short distance away. Sure there is some evil at work here...
I am a little like Bill, and the details fascinate.
I found in the end my socks: Wright double layer Escape, take a bit longer to dry, but so comfortable, and not one blister on two Caminos! Love these socks. Wish I had them when I was in the Army.
Ex-Officious ‘Give and go’ sports briefs, wash...
I have found that creaking can be decreased or eliminated by adjusting the straps as well, often we tend to cinch things up tight, which increases pressure.
Found that trick when I was in the Army, and worked perfectly with my Camino pack (a Gregory) I treated myself to prior CF.
Sadly, same...
Agreed.
However I did need an address of a place 24 and 48 hours to give to the airport who was busy trying to track my pack.
It is also an answer to those not as confident
Or using Booking.com- found that worked well when we did CP in 2018, the first 5 days waiting for my backpack to decide to join me after it went on its own holiday.
Very handy system!
