I was allowed to carry them on in the U.S. When I arrived in Spain for my connecting flight, I had to go back through security. They are not allowed as carry ons. My option was to go back in the check them as baggage or give them up. I didn't have enough time, so I left them there.
Hi Iriebablel. I don't recall a specific type but I bought them at REI in the states. I did the Camino Frances in three segments over 18 months and had blisters and lost a big toe nail on all three. LOL I think that I was pushing myself to hard.
I'm a warm sleeper too. I've walked sections of the Camino in later September/early October the last two years and have been perfectly fine with just a silk liner. Very lightweight too.
Save the space and leave the extra weight at home. You won't need the pillow. The only problem I had was when pillows were too soft, so I would have to extra clothing to firm it up
thank you. I definitely would recommend checking your bag if you want to take poles. My next call is to REI as to why $150 poles were able to be replaced with 18 Euro poles that were just as good. LOL. Lesson learned
TSA in Dallas didn't stop me from carrying in my backpack. I had a connection in Madrid. They said I could not carry poles in my backpack. They said I could check them but I didn't have time for that so they kept the poles
