I did it once in sandals too, but I’m seriously considering taking the road this time. It left quite an impression one me as an ankle twister.
Thank you!
Okay sandal club, is there anywhere once I have passed the descent into Uterga where sandals are a hassle? I haven’t worn my trail runners since that day and I’m rapidly getting tired of carrying them. I know about El Acebo but I’m thinking I may just take the road. Trail runners or sandals, my...
I’m using something similar. I already packed it back into my pack for tomorrow so no pics, but I used one of those glasses strings with the do hickies on the end that slip onto sunglasses arms? I’ve got a lightweight double S hook with 4 tulle style bags. Bars each for shampoo, conditioner...
That’s pretty much how I felt about it too. I had paid a bit more to chose my seat expecting it would get me to at least board in the middle but it was all the premium/business passengers and that was it for carry on. It was a smallish plane headed to jfk for the international flight. It looked...
The French boutique mentioned above will hold one for you until you arrive. I’ve been emailing with him and he’s been extremely helpful. He is also discounting it right now if you pre order, and helped me to determine the correct size.
I was forced to gate check my pack this time. 😡 Why? Because lots of the premium seat holders had carry ons that were mostly definitely pushing the size limits. I gave the young guy at the counter what was probably my stern momma face and said “if you lose this I’m screwed. I’m walking over 500...

I made the switch to lock laces recently and I agree. Brilliant all the way around. I’ve got mine in the runner’s heel lock lacing technique. I’ve had a tough time with heel lock for descents in the past and this did the trick.
At home? Never. On the camino? Yeahhhh..... happy feet is worth the crime against fashion. But when I take selfies I try to keep my feet out of the picture. lol
I there’s an assumption that everyone has the same needs that is not always true. The person with insulin might really appreciate not having to carry 6 weeks of supplies at once. The person walking in a shoulder season may not want to carry winter gear and summer gear both at the same time. We...
It's so easy to look at someone else's list and despair over how much weight/space yours takes, comparatively. Perhaps they are significantly shorter. Or perhaps their entire list came from ultralight cottage industry brands that are expensive.
I agree with others that a pair of sandals to...
I've been back and forth on this one. I'm leaving in 2 weeks-ish. I much prefer sandals, overall (with socks, in spite of the lack of fashion sense lol). I finally decided to bring my trail runners, just in case, and give myself permission to send them to Ivar if it turns out I am not using...
End of March 2017, O Ceb. Earlier in the week around Astorga it was hot. My winter running gloves were not enough for this level of cold. I had merino socks over them and it was still awful. I’m taking fleece mittens this time. I think some form of gloves is a necessity for a spring Camino...
I've been looking for information on how many miles one pair of tevas is good for. Came across this article. I guess I don't need to worry about them wearing out on the camino. lol He's put 2700 miles on one pair...
