I do not like how my hair feels using bar soap. With my first Camino I brought a 3oz bottle of liquid detergent from home, once that was gone I just used my bar soap or shampoo to wash my clothing. My 2nd Camino I splurged and purchased from Amazon travel size packets of Tide liquid detergent...
I wore shorts majority of the time for both of my summer caminos. I had one long sleeve that I wore often for sun protection - the sun can be intense and there are some long exposed stretches. I purchased my long sleeve shirt from FreeFly - it was a bamboo material - wicking, temp regulation...
I can't sleep in the wicking material type of clothing. I wore a cotton shirt and Patagonia Baggie shorts. When I arrived at my lodging I would shower, wash clothing and change into whatever I was walking in for the next day to enjoy the evening. When I was ready for bed, I would then change...
After I showered in the afternoon I would put on my next days clothing and sandals. I also brought a sleeping outfit - so when it was time for bed I would change again into that. Then next morning I would put the clothing I wore the evening before back on.
Bring things you can layer - when I...
I don't think people steal clothing, shoes etc - it is the valuables - the phones, cash, passport etc that you need to keep close to you. When I replied about putting dry clothes on top of my valuables in the dry bag - it is just to keep my clean clothing I am going to change into dry while I...
I use a dry bag with a Hero clip. Passport, wallet, phone goes into a baggie then put in bottom of the dry bag. I put my clean clothing and towel on top. Hang the bag with the Hero clip somewhere in the shower stall with you.
I never needed a cup or plate but I did find myself wishing I had utensils. Many times I purchased items at a store that having utensils on hand would have been much more convenient and easy. My next camino in May I am bringing a pocket knife and a small camping spork type of utensil.
I brought one on my 2019 Camino and used it maybe twice, it was too much of a hassle to stop, dig in my backpack for it, get it set up to use then put away. I would not bring it again.
I wear them but only as a fashion choice I guess I would say. No way would I wear them to walk 500 miles. If you are going to spend $150+ on footwear to walk the camino there are much better choices out there.
You do whatever is comfortable for you. I did not carry a bladder - I carried 2 16oz water bottles purchased from a store - I would refill them during the day at my albergue in the morning and at cafes while walking. Water is easy to get.
I walked summer 2019, some days were really hot. I pretaped my known hotspots daily, wore Wright socks - double layered sock and never had any issues. When I stopped during the day I would remove my shoes and let me feet air out a little bit, sometimes even removing and changing out my socks...
I purchased the Eurochim for my upcoming summer Camino to be used for shade - it was expensive. I sure hope it holds up because it seems very fragile and cheaply made - I guess because it is so lightweight???? I don't want to bother with returning it. I was at Daiso (asian dollar store)...
If you are in the US check out Duluth Trading Co - they seem to have a decent selection of plus size clothing from leggings to hiking pants. Some of the pants even come in different lengths. I’m on the shorter end of being chubby and for the first time I was able to purchase a pair of hiking...
