Shower footwear
Thongs, jandals, flip flops, call them what you will, but if you want to prevent a foot fungus, wear them in the shower. Far more common than you might realise, and breeds in hot sweaty socks too. A tube of tinea cream applied after each shower also goes a long way... just saying- Jen Fawkes

Rookie mistake. Is my gear ruined or what?
There are some great threads on this site. This is one of them. Thanks for the heads up on washing gortex. Each time I put mine on I am reminded that it needs a wash. So far on the Camino I haven't needed it (SJPDP to Leon) so I'm assuming the fragrance is still tucked inside. By the way... did...- Jen Fawkes
