Small juicer, vegetarians and heating element?

What off-hours are you concerned about? Early morning? Late night? My experience was that coffee and tea were always available to me when needed either on the road or near the albergue. I drink ALOT of coffee. Don't be afraid. Are you coming from the U.S.? If so, make sure that your device...

    Capacity of Credencial

Yes, I can’t pass up a great Camino stamp. I got a second credencial and taped them together, also. Impressive when you accordion unfold it.

    Sun Sleeves?

Ok. Thanks for the response. I don’t think they sound like a big enough advantage for me to use instead of just rolling up/down my sleeves. I’ll stick with my UV 50 tech fabric shirt. The fewer things I have to carry or worry about losing, the happier I am. Have you read about the time my...

    Sun Sleeves?

How are they better than rolling your sleeves up or down if you are wearing a tech fabric shirt? Wouldn’t it just be one more thing to carry and keep track of? Not trying to be snarky, I just want to understand.

    Refillable Toothpaste Tubes

These refillable toothpaste tubes have been around for decades. I remember using them when backpacking in the seventies. Of course, we didn’t use them for toothpaste. We used them to carry - wait for it - peanut butter! A hiker’s best friend. However, I just looked at the Matador site, which I...

    Walking Poles

Remember, using poles turns you from a two-legged animal into a four-legged animal. This can be very useful in many situations.

    Walking Poles

I wrapped "Hello Kitty" duct tape near the tops of my poles for that reason. Few would accidentally walk off with Hello Kitty hiking poles.

    Walking Poles

    Hahaha, loved it!

    Comments on my packing list?

I agree with most of what has been previously written, with a few additions: I assume you have one long sleeve shirt, which you are wearing, and one you are carrying. That sounds reasonable to me, especially if one is Smartwool or another tech fabric. I suspect the weather will be brisk and...

Dark colored shoes too hot in summer?

Yep. IMHO, you're overthinking this. Get the right size and go for comfort. DON'T FORGET TO FACTOR IN THE RIGHT SOCKS. I wear 2 layers of socks when walking - one lightweight (usually Injinji, but any light sock could do) , one Smartwool for hiking. This could impact the size shoe you get.

    Managing electronics

How do you manage the electronics you may take on your Camino? Assume you are not taking obvious luxuries. Phone? Tablet? Breathing device? Toothbrush? What chargers do you bring? Batteries? Solar power? What is our accumulated wisdom?

    Minimal but comforting packing list

I agree. i allow myself one “luxury item” and sometimes my electric toothbrush is it. I use a battery operated one because of the weight savings.

    Minimal but comforting packing list

Don’t forget about a way to safely and securely carry your cash, cards, passport and, especially your credencial , protected from rain (and be able to take them into the shower with you).

    Quiet pole tips?

The tap-tap-tap-tap of poles on sidewalks drives me absolutely insane, also.

Camino from Porto - Trekking Poles confiscated at airport!

They are as essential on the CP as they were on the CF. Only you can be the judge.

    Securely Storing Valuables While Showering

A valuable is anything that would devastate you if it got stolen - passport, money, credential, camera with un-uploaded photos, tablet, etc. I reduced the number of valuables I took with me in the first place. Don't take your signed first edition of Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls no matter...

US/EU Outlet Adapter with USB Ports - Any Experience Using?

I did this for exactly that reason. I didn't want to hog one of the few outlets in the room. I also "decorated" it with colored magic markers so there was no question whether it belonged to someone and to whom, and to lessen the chances of my leaving it behind.

Rainy forecast? Too humid for clothes to dry!

I had that happen to me a couple of times on a few of my Caminos. When my clothes weren't completely dry, I just wore the pants and/or shirt slightly damp and they soon dried just from being worn. Oh, well. Socks were another matter. I put dry socks on in the morning and took the still damp...

    Sleeping bag question

As always, Henrythedog, I delight in reading your writing. Lesson learned: always get the dog crate to fit the dog/sleeping bag to fit the sleeper.

Women out there - Deuter backpack

I switched to a Deuter 40 lL for my last 2 Caminos and I found it to be very comfortable, even fully loaded (I'm not proud of that).
