    What Trecile said. Get a silk sleep sheet and a light weight down throw (both washable). Then, instead of stuffing the throw inside the sleep sheet, do this: Cut it so it's just a few inches wider than the sleep sheet and attach it to the top of the sleep sheet with spaced velcro tabs down...

    I did exactly this...but with a twist. I took a Cocoon washable silk sleep sack and trimmed the washable down blanket from Costco so it was the same size as the sleep sack. Then I sewed on Velcro tabs to attach the blanket to the top of the sleep sack. Advantages: less weight (total 1 lb.)...

    What is the one luxury or non-essential item you would bring with you?

    Haven't heard this one mentioned yet. True luxury: A tiny container of Lush Pink Peppermint Foot Cream. Not enough to use daily, but allowed me the occasional "Ahhhhhhh" A little goes a long way.

    Shampoo Bar

    My solution to the Lush Bar mush mess was this: pre-camino, cut the bar up into finger-tip size pieces. Keep then in a very light weight container (Muji has some good ones). Then just take one piece with you into the shower for hair/body. Works like a charm.

    NanoPuff or Down Jacket?

    I had my Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer jacket. Washable down, weighs almost nothing and packs down to almost nothing. Nice and warm without being too hot. Not problems with it getting wet....just threw on my rain jacket if I felt rain starting. Really. Loved it.

    To wear a hat...

    Make sure whatever hat you take has a cord you can tighten under your chin to keep it on your head in high winds. Essential in some of the mountain areas.

    Suggestions for Boots on Camino

    Thanks for you comments! I was advised to go 1/2 size bigger...but maybe sizing is different here in the U.S. I've got a couple of pair I'm trying now...we have REI here and you can try them out and return if not good. Wish I could do wool socks, but allergic....still lots of good choices...
