A Great Way to Carry a DSLR camera on the Camino

I took my 17-40 f4 attached to my 6d and wouldn't have lasted too long. And my 70-200 f 2.8 was never a sensible option, regardless of how I carried it! I cosidered taking my 50mm f1.8 because of small size and light weight, as well as the large aperture benefits, but I opted for the wide angle...

A Great Way to Carry a DSLR camera on the Camino

Mmm...that looks really uncomfortable to me... For a small camera, maybe... but with a typical dslr and lens weighing around 2kgs or more, all that weight hanging from a clip off one side strap and bouncing on your chest with every step for 6 hours or so.... I think I would hate it within 5...

Smartphone vs. camera - how to carry the camera?

Yes, I would have loved to take my 70-200 but that was clearly beyond what I considered sensible... Too heavy, too expensive, too obvious and too silly to take with me to the showers every day!!! I did...

    Sleeping bag type for Sept/Oct

It is just over 3 weeks to departure and I still have doubts as to whether I should take a sleeping bag or just a silk liner (which I already have). I will start walking in Lourdes on 31st August via SJPdP and onto SdC which I'm planning to arrive at around 10th October... Will I freeze to death...

Do I really need a compass?

Oh, I really, really like this answer MTtoCamino! The only thing I would add/change is the order of your question... 'una Cerveza por favor' and then, 'el Camino de Santiago por favor'?!! Actually, I thought about trying local wines more than beers in France and Spain, but... we'll see how I go...

Do I really need a compass?

On the other hand... you may be in a forest path and coming to a T intersection, on a cloudy/rainy day... you may benefit from knowing where is West and where is East... GPS and an iPad/iPhone app are great if you have a local sim card... if not, you may be walking in the wrong direction for...
