  1. Phillypilgrim

    Oboz brand footwear

Two pairs. My feet are narrow, and they are perfect in the heel, and roomy in the toe box for me. I went up one full size to accommodate my socks and insoles by Abeo.
  2. Phillypilgrim

    Oboz brand footwear

I love my Sawtooth Oboz hiking shoes, on 3 Caminos. Happy to have the perfect shoe for me. Now I also wear thin Injinji toe socks with Smartwool over them.
  3. Phillypilgrim

    Pack help please.

I didn't consider any packs weighing over 2 lbs, empty. I continue to use a 33 Liter Osprey Tallon and love it.
  4. Phillypilgrim

    Anyone tried toe socks?

I am a recent convert. They are awesome and NO blisters on my recent walk from Santiago to Finisterre/Muxia.
  5. Phillypilgrim

    Sharing gear as a couple

Each bringing a blister kit is important, in case you are walking different pace and you are in need of it.
  6. Phillypilgrim

Are wooden staff/sticks available to buy in Santiago?

Related question (that I can not find the answer to elsewhere!) Is there a Pilgrim's store in Santiago old city, (similar to St.Jean and Pamplona), that sells Pilgrim things particularly hiking/treking poles to begin one's walk? Maybe not, as it is the end point for most? Thanks, Pam
  7. Phillypilgrim

    NOOK ? yes or no

Two walks, took my Kindle both times (the early version Kindle). Read 5 novels each walk. It is an essential for me.
  8. Phillypilgrim

    Mont bell sleeping sheets

I love mine!!! I bring a Sea to Summit silk liner with the built in pillow case too.
  9. Phillypilgrim

    Hat or sun screen

Many, many thanks for that then!!
  10. Phillypilgrim

    Hat or sun screen

Back to hats! One of the best tips I got on the forum was to wear a baseball type hat under my Ferrino rain coat hood to give it structure. Otherwise it flops down and you can't see in a downpour!
  11. Phillypilgrim

    Pack covers

I mostly used my pack cover in the big cities, Madrid etc. It is an added layer of security for "backpack pocketers", and worth it for me. My Ferrino rain coat worked for actual rain.
  12. Phillypilgrim

How often do you wash your silk liner

I only washed mine while walking when it was a "bedbug situation issue"!!
  13. Phillypilgrim

    Variants of sunglasses

I swear by Maui Jim polarized, light weight!
  14. Phillypilgrim

Top of new shoe rubbing ankle

Personally I would not keep or wear a shoe that gave me problems from the getgo.
  15. Phillypilgrim

    Underwear right size

I love Exofficio underwear. I take 3. I hunt for sales online.
  16. Phillypilgrim

    Shampoo/conditioner

Kanga, that product is like our USA's 1960's "Alberto VO5" leave in conditioner in a tube!!!!!
  17. Phillypilgrim

    Shampoo/conditioner

I ended up buying a small conditioner and a body moisturizer too. My skin and hair became dryer than usual. You will figure out as you walk along. Enjoy!!
  18. Phillypilgrim

    Christmas stocking stuffers

Sea to Summit "Ultra Sil daypack" very lightweight, folds up to nothing little backpack for around the towns in the evening.
  19. Phillypilgrim

    insoles

I use Abeo insoles bought at The Walking Company. Bring in your socks and shoes and they fit you. A good insole and socks may bump up your shoe size though, it did for me. www.thewalkingcompany.com/orthodics
  20. Phillypilgrim

    Anyone use a ScotteVest?

Annie, which Scott e vest are you getting?
