    Carabiners or “S” hook?

Hero Clip is great. Functional, flexible, and light.

    Small digital camera

I carry a Canon SX 620 in addition to my phone. The Canon has a long optical zoom lens, which comes in handy and the phone can't match. Not sure of your budget, but it retails for just over $300.

    Carabiners or “S” hook?

I’ve not used the gear ties on the Camino but have in other situations. They should work well in the situations cited. Also the large safety pins are great for attaching moist clothing to your pack to dry out.

    Carabiners or “S” hook?

I used a Hero Clip in 2018 on the Norte/Primitivo. Works great.

    Solar chargers

I took a GoalZero solar charger and battery pack on the CF last April. I had absolutely no need for it and mailed it ahead from Pamplona; the weight savings was considerable and appreciated. There were always plenty of options to charge my devices, at least on the Frances.

    Water Bottles on Shoulder Strap/Hipbelt?

I used both a water bladder inside my pack, but also this sling that could hold a water bottle, my small camera, phone, and guidebook: https://www.rei.com/product/893169/chicobag-bottle-sling Very handy and convenient.

    Phone and iPad

OK, forgive my lack of precision. I have an iPhone 4s. The Apple site shows it as a "world phone." Should this now work with an international plan? Thanks.

    Phone and iPad

Does the Orange deal include a phone? My iPhone 4 will apparently not work with a Spanish sim card.

    Phone and iPad

Bajaracer: What about this as an option? Mobal offers a smart phone plus sim card with unlimited texts to/from the USA...

Yes - you need another cable for your electronics! USB OTG cable

I have a somewhat different configuration but a similar need. I'll be taking photos on a small point-and-shoot camera without WiFi capability. I'd like to be able to periodically upload photos from the SD card--using what I understand to be good access to WiFi hotspots--at a minimum to "protect"...

    Phone and iPad

Dee: I plan to leave SJPP on April 25. Looks like from Bajaracer's post I need to check with Sprint again. They clearly told me the phone will work in Spain (and France and Portugal as well), as long as I get their "proper" plan. This may mean it will work to/from the USA but not within Spain...

    Phone and iPad

Dee: Let's compare notes on the "solution." Fred

    Phone and iPad

I have an iPhone 4, with Sprint as my provider. I can get an international plan through them that provides reasonable prices for texting home (which I expect to do the most), plus the ability to call the USA if needed. If I'm comfortable with the prices, and I don't expect to be using a phone to...
