You already have your shorts why not get a pair of sports/running tights/leggings and wear them underneath your shorts. If it warms up you can slip them off later. Win/Win! I won't add to all the doom and gloom here regarding jeans but most of it is true.
I'd ditch the fleece hood for a down jacket or equivalent (I have a Patagonia Micro Puff) as this will provide better warmth but pack smaller and, as said above, without a hood which is just a faff and you already have cap/hat/buff. Good Luck.
Your old gear will be fine, but uncomfortable, and may fall apart as you go along. New shoes/boots will be far more comfortable, probably lighter, give better support and may be waterproof too. Much the same for your pack as a new one will be more comfortable, carry better, waterproof etc. Ultreïa!
I order these from the Amazon France site for delivery to me in the UK but they might not ship to Oz; your best option might be to buy when you get to Europe, there are tech shops all over the place these days. You'll not go wrong with Anker. Good Luck.
I have a Patagonia Nano Puff jacket and I think that it is the garment with the best warmth / packed size ratio of any I've had. It is my "go to" jacket and always goes with me when I'm travelling.
Ultreïa!
Apart from the boots/so ks thing do give some serious thought to a pair of gaiters. They seem to be regarded as a bit old fashioned these days but they do a great job in mud/rain/ wet grass/snow etc..
I simply cannot imagine any walk without a camera, phones are really good these days but a camera will always be just that but better; it's all to do with the lens. There are simply masses of really decent small cameras available and you don't need to break the bank together one. Mine is in a...
I was ejected from Milan Cathedral for wearing shorts but it was 1964 and they were a pair of disreputable rugby shorts. Since then I've always warn shorts, proper shorts to just above the knee but not in big churches and never wear a hat in church.
Whenever you travel, anywhere, home or abroad, ALWAYS take a travel plug; it's the law.
I had a travel plug for about twenty years, always stayed in my washbag. It got perished and crumbled away so I chucked it; recently went to Morocco, lovely modernised riad but no plug; ah I said, I have a...
It's all here so you pays your money and makes your choice. I've never used waist pack but do carry a small cross body bag with me for mostly evening use it was from Rohan in the UK. My main comment would be that a waist pack type thing makes a obvious target and I'd almost certainly try to...
I have an Anker 20,000 mah power bank that I keep for emergencies but have just bought a hany 10,000 mah one from Aukey that is light enough to carry with me all the time. Beware of the small ones, I have found them most disappointing.
