    Dangers of Walking Poles

I used to walk with just one pole to get balance on hills, but I suffered with sciatica (my eldesr son, now 45, sat on my sciatic nerve when I was pregnant!). When I started using two poles it was magic - no more sciatica! My Leki poles fold now enough to fit in my rucksack for flights, cable...

    Walking Boots or open sandals?

The lovely man who tends feet under the stairs in the Santo Domingo albergue told me my horrendous blisters were due to having sweaty feet. I had walked from St Jean in walking boots. I had to carry on to Burgos in crocs before flying home. The following year I walkd from Sarria to Santiago in...

I walked the first 180 miles in hiking boots and socks and got terrible blisters. Walked the last 140 miles in bare feet and sandals and didn't get a single blister. From which I conclude that my problem is sweaty feet! However I was told that if I broke my ankle my insurance would be invalid...

    Anyone need footwear/foot advice?

I walked from SJPdP to Santo Domingo in proper walking boots and socks and got really awful blisters. The man who lives under the stairs in the Santo Domingo albergue treated my feet and told me my problem was sweaty feet. I walked the rest of the way in bare feet and sandals and din't get a...

What would you take out of your backpack?

Last October staying in hostels I found my one season sleeping bag much too hot and thought I'd have been better off with just a liner. Then my blisters started rotting because my feet were too hot encased in two socks and walking boots so I thought I'd have been a lot better off walking in...
