I'm so sorry you are having this issue. I spent a lot of time trying out shoes before I left and never found any that were great. I settled on a Saucony pair that had a name like Pellegrino because it sounded like pilgrim and I took that as a good sign. On day one walking over the Pyrenees, I...
That seems like a very modest and well thought out list. You may want one more bra and one more pair of socks. I regretted not having one more of each myself. Is the sleeping bag a sac for the albergues? Does your pack feel comfortable? Looks like a good list overall and not any fluff to remove.
I have Google Fi as my everyday phone. It works in the US, Mexico, Canada, most of Asia and all of Europe, much of Africa, etc for the same price and plan worldwide. It's awesome if you travel because you don't have to deal with sim nonsense. You just arrive, get off the plane, turn your phone...
My opinion is yes. I spent loads of time going to REI trying on proper hiking sneakers and they got ruined on day one! I ended up hiking most of the Camino in reef flip flops. Totally not recommended and do able. ☺️ If you have well fitting keen type shoes i think you'll be fine.
Mine is bright blue. I really wanted grey or a more subdued color but blue was $50 cheaper. My boyfriend offered to buy me the grey one but I thought that seemed silly to spend the money on the same pack just because the Gregory colors are wild. I've grown to like it now. My pack is so small, I...
Possibly smaller. I think as a woman I feel safer with my brick, esp since I'll be on 3 different caminos for the first time. And you are right, it's heavy so it's a trade off.
Thanks for the reminder about my phone light. The brick is a backup battery for both my phone and Kindle. I feel safer having it in case all the plugs are occupied in the hostel and I can't charge my phone.
Thank you. I did start with REI and had 3 different people help me on 3 different occasions. (I think the staff are sick of me by now!) The first one they fit on my felt great and it is a 26 liter and I couldn't fit all my stuff inside. I will go back this weekend and take the two best...
I know! A towel is a must have. I don't know if I will be bringing any rain gear given that my bag is already so heavy that I'm miserable carrying it. Ugh! I may have to pay a service to take my bag. I don't feel like I am over-packing but wow, it feels like a ton of bricks. How rainy will...
My backpack feels too heavy and I am concerned. I have tried 5 backpacks so far-- Osprey Sirrus 24, OspreyTempest 30, Deuter 28l Aspen, and 2 different models of the Gregory Jade 28sl. They all hurt!
Here's my much abbreviated list:
wear:
socks
light trail shoes
yoga pants
undies
sport bra...
So curious how this turned out for you. I'm facing a similar issue. My pack is exactly 10 percent of my weight but without water or food or toiletries. I've tried three packs and I'm having such massive shoulder pain I'm rethinking what to do.
