Lots of people say your feet WILL swell. Well, mine don’t. This is a very personal thing. If I went up half a size my shoes would be too big, they would then slop around and give me blisters. Do what works for YOU.
I bought an after market charger in Spain when my Apple one went astray. Back home it fried my iPad mini & would have burnt my camper van down if I hadn’t been there to unplug it! I only use a ‘real’ one now.
I didn’t take a sleeping bag last year on the Norte & Primitivo (June-July) and regretted it. I found myself booking private albergues as I was cold and knew that they would have blankets. The Municipal albergues in Galicia don’t have blankets.
Holhum, a hint from one Aussie to another: tape your charger plug to the adaptor -it’s very easy to unplug it and leave the adaptor still plugged in the wall. Something I did somewhere on the Via de la Plata. Not good.
My husband’s boots were taken from the albergue in Tui many years ago. It was an innocent mistake, and he did get them back, but it made for a very stressful day. I am now very reluctant to let mine out of my sight.
I have taken Tevas on all my Caminos (about 5 now). They are great ‘camp’ foot ware & I have walked many long days in them, with & without socks. Yes, they’re heavy, but they are worth their weight. I wouldn’t go without them.
Thanks, everyone, for your replies. Seems to be quite a few Decathlon stores and they stock Jetboils so we should be OK. And, yes, Tincatinka, we shall be very careful. Cheers, Jacki.
We are walking from Granada starting April '17. Will we be able to buy gas canisters on the way or should we stock up in Madrid or Granada? We are carrying a jetboil so we can have a much needed brew when bars are few and far between.
