I am planning a trip to Spain this spring which will include walking the camino. In the past I would purchase a sim card once I was in Spain. This time however I will not be able to purchase a sim card for a few days after I arrive. Has anyone from the USA purchased a sim card BEFORE arriving in...
I may be mistaken but I believe the iPhone 6 with Verizon comes unlocked. See...http://www.apple.com/shop/question/answers/readonly/tag/iphone/the-iphone-6-from-verizon-is-unlocked-like-the-older-models/QFXYK74AJKPUTJYTX
I ordered via Internet from a Spanish outdoor store so if that is something you would want to do just google Altus poncho. Otherwise once in Spain you will find them at most outdoor shops as well as Camino shops. I was told by one walking companion they can also be found in SJPP.
When you get to Spain buy a poncho by Altus. It is really more like a rain jacket with a hump on the back that covers your backpack. We just finished our camino and the Altus was great! It also weighs little and can be folded quitr flat.
Buen Camino
We bought some nice pads from REI too, but we needed to jettison some stuff to get our pack weights down so we are not taking the pads. We are taking some plastic sheeting (stuff you use for floor covering when painting) however. Very light only a bit over an ounce.
I am culling my pack list for our upcoming March Camino and am pondering ditching the sleeping mat. I have a Therm-a-rest Prolite 4 that weighs .95 Kilos. Looking at the many previous posts it appears that hardly anyone ever uses one. What do you all say? :?: My pack weight is currently at...
This may be a bit off topic but I am starting my exercise regime for the camino and am curious what folks think about training with a pack weight of 25 pounds (11.4 kgs) or more - not that I plan to carry all that weight!
Thanks, Cullen
For those of you who have walked the camino or any other long hike, what is your preference -regular hiking pants or convertible pants? I am putting my "wardrobe" together and have no experience with convertible pants.
UPDATE ON MY PACK
I have walked a couple short hikes (less than 5 miles) with 30 not 20 lbs and it felt comfortable. In two weeks we are walking a 15 mile hike and we'll be training with the Osprey Atmos 65.
Well after all the advice I ended up buying the Osprey Atmos 65. It is a little bit over 3 lbs but my intent is to stay under 20 lbs. I've done a couple short hikes with 20 lb weight and it felt ok.
Good tidings to all - My wife and I are planning to walk the camino in 2010. We are starting to buy our equipment so we can start our training program. I am looking for recommendations on backpacks for both men and women that I can buy here in the States. Thanks!
Where can these panchos be bought? I am planning for my walk the year after next and am slowly putting together my equipment. I live in the US and have not been able to find them here. :?:
